Monday self care I missed my post yesterday since I am getting back to reality after a wonderful retreat last week. It was an awesome self care week with lots of happy moments. I am happy to be back on my own beach. I am still on vacation this week and my day started with a walk on the beach with Steve this morning for 2 hours. So peaceful here on PEI.... Next Saturday I am hosting a day of self care where we will spend some time on the beach. Looking forward to sharing what I've learned over the years. Only 3 spots left. Have a great week everyone. How do you sleep at night? For me, I would say that I sleep well 95% of the time (compared to 0% of the time 4 years ago). When I can't sleep I always tune in see what was the reason behind my lack of sleep. As I wrote in my blog, I do follow daily rituals to help me sleep better. But I am human and sometimes I don't follow them exactly as I should.... Sometimes I can't sleep because I am overthinking something. I do have a monkey brain and sometimes it's hard to turn it off. When it's emotional like that, I can use tapping to calm the emotions and then I can sleep again. But sometimes, that doesn't work. Then I question further and most of the time, I'll realize that I've had caffeine too late in the day. Yes, caffeine can affect our sleep if we are sensitive to it. What most people don't know is that 6 to 8 hours after you've ingested that delicious afternoon coffee, you still have 50% of that caffeine floating in your brain. When I can't sleep, this is usually the reason. Then I am reminded to ensure I do better the next day if I want to get my sleep back on track. I'll often say, I might have one bad night sleep. But it's rare for me to have 2 in a row. I now understand what I have to do to keep my sleep on track. Sunday self care time! Today, I want to quote Tracey from Reset: Breathe. "30 minutes of exercise and taking care of your body is only 2% of your day"... 2% - that's all it takes each day to see a significant improvement in your health. Exercise improves your physical health, your mental health and it also improves your sleep. This morning I biked 10kms (it took longer than 30 minutes). But 2 months ago I could barely do 4 kms on the bike. I kept hearing just 2% of your day in my mind and knew I could do it. Sunday morning self care. I woke up early this morning after an amazing great sleep. Fresh coffee, meditation, journaling and a bit of yoga/stretching on the deck during my first hour awake. It's so quiet outside, we can hear the birds chirping.... Setting the energy for an amazing day. It's going to be sunny and Steve and I are spending the day on the beach. I have a few friends who might join us. Most of us work hard all week, we need time to resource ourselves and re-energize. For me, Sundays are dedicated to this. What will you be doing today?

Happy Canada Day! I am grateful to live in this beautiful country. I am grateful that today I get to spend my day with my kid while my husband is gone golfing with his friends doing what he loves.... I am grateful to Live in Prince Edward Island where Dr. Heather Morrison has kept us safe from this pandemic. I am grateful for what they are calling the "Atlantic bubble". It will allow me to see my family soon. I will be following all health guidelines as i visit with my family. I am grateful the bridge is opening this weekend so I can see my brother and niece on Saturday. I miss them so much. I am grateful that I can go visit my parents next Tuesday since the last time I saw them was last December. I will be even more grateful for my mom's cooking next week. I am grateful for my health. I am grateful for so many things as I celebrate today. What are you grateful for today as we celebrate Canada Day?
