A-SIDE | B-SIDE is a healthy, scrumptious mix of alternating tracks of various danceable genres. Home of the Hits trading with underground deep-cuts. A-SIDE | B-SIDE will be a monthly night with selectors, David Murkovich (DMurk) & Amy Lombardi (DJ Lombo).... The audio will be broadcasted via Twitch.tv, and the interactive video broadcasted via Zoom. (The event links for these will be provided soon).
Merch Update from Brodie of The Casbah ... This is my Uncle Bob, and my cousin Norbert. Virtually every member of my family purchased Casbah merchandise over the holidays. I didn't ask a single one of them to do so. I wanted to give them all a shoutout. The Schwendimans, Kemmlers, Martins, Milfords, Copple-Coutures, much love ... PS: Casbah's music family can still order hoodies, t-shirts and totebags here > www.casbahlounge.ca/merch
COVID-19 UPDATE The Lounge at Casbah : Under the RED level of the COVID-19 Recovery Framework, restaurants & bars are permitted 10 guests indoors (table occupancy 4 guests max). Here's what we are doing...... Rather than open our Lounge up to the public for 10 guests, The Casbah will be booking our space for private 10 guest 'Bubble Parties' for you and your friends! Wanna see friends, but would prefer to see them in a safe, spacious room rather than in your home? Is it still too cold for yard hangs? Not ready to be in a bar amongst strangers? Our Bubble Parties are private, for you and your people only. Email us at [email protected] for more info.

Digging ourselves out. Expect announcements this week about some safe re-opening plans. In-house drinking/dining will not be a part of our immediate plans (let's be smart/safe/kind), BUT expect some fun offerings from us

One of our live music friends have launched a merch store to raise money for their laid off staff...
Fundraising for a return to Live Events: Can we all agree lockdowns stink? We at The Casbah have been managing the best we can, coming up with alternative ways to generate revenue while we wait for the green-light to present live events again. I am considering a new way to generate revenue for my business beginning in January. Stay tuned for info on that.... In the meantime, our most effective approach has been through our "Indie Rock Relief" campaign via GoFundMe. We are getting close to our goal. If you can spare the money, please consider a donation of any amount. Here is the link: gf.me/u/y2h5g8 If you can't donate, no problem. Here are other ways you can help: 1) share the fundraiser link on your socials 2) find local music on-line, play it, share it 3) wear a mask and keep your bubbles tight Live music WILL return. But you can help get us there sooner.
Effective immediately: The Casbah will be temporarily closed to the public due to heightened concerns regarding the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will watch the situation closely and let you know when we feel it is responsible to return to regular hours. This decision was not made lightly.... Instead of regular bar service, for the rest of the year we will be offering our space for private gatherings of up to 10 people, following social distancing protocol. Let us provide you with a safe, clean space to gather and celebrate and none of the headache. Contact for bookings at: [email protected] The Casbah will continue to support local music by sharing links and online events, offering rehearsal space and presenting livestream concerts.
We bought the ticket, you come for free.
Some thoughts from Brodie at The Casbah: The past two Sundays I've been packaging Casbah merchandise orders, and delivering them to customers' porches. For 19 years I've owned & operated a live music venue (16 of those years at Casbah). It doesn't go un-noticed, how far and wide across our community people travel to attend shows in my room.... But these past two Sundays provided a special perspective. I delivered a combination of hoodies, t-shirts & tote bags to virtually EVERY neighbourhood in the Greater Hamilton area. Downtown, North-end, Kirkendall, Durand, Gage-area, Crown Point, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Westdale, you name it. I also took drives out to deliver merch in St.Catharine's, Grimsby, Winona, Aldershot, Oakville, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Finally, I put together mail-outs to Nova Scotia, Northern Ontario, Ottawa, Toronto, Prince Edward County, & Kingston. Sure, it wasn't the most economical use of my time (or gas). I could've easily done mail-outs for everyone. But I just felt like I needed to drive. Get outside. See the city. Take my time. Take small residential streets, country roads...listen to my radio. It was therapeutic. Dare I say, emotionally charging. At moments, I came close to tears if I thought too hard about all the people who have been, and continue to support The Casbah in any ways they can. At one stop, I pulled up to a house, in an East-end location. The yard warm & welcoming, and when I placed the package under the mailbox, I could hear a mum calling to her kids for lunch across the house. I don't know why, but that moment hit me....young families support The Casbah! People who have every reason in the world to not spend money on live music right now, ARE spending money on live music right now. I just wanted to point that out. And thank each and every person. Whether you donated to "Indie Rock Relief" (a campaign on our website), whether you bought some merch, whether you shared our stuff on social media, and even if you simply put us in your minds for a moment, to root for us. It's all appreciated. Thank you so much PS: if you did buy merch, I'd love to see you wearing it. Please consider post a pic of you in your Casbah gear and tag us. Patio weather is waning, kids back 2 school & parents back in a "routine", & let's be frank, going to concerts may not be priority right now...independent music venues again turn to finding alternative ways to stay afloat. Unlike the not-for-profit world, there aren't nearly as many funding opportunities, so we make them ourselves. Enter Indie Rock Relief, a campaign to support The Casbah. Please #SupportCanadianVenues https://www.gofundme.com/f/indie-rock-relief

Arrived in the mail on Friday. 50 copies of the Split 7" by The Burning Hell / BA Johnston. Track Listing: "I Want to Drink in a Bar" (BH) "I Want to Drink in a Bar Filled with Aliens" (BA)... "Supreme Self Quarantine" (BA) These generous musicians sent boxes of this limited edition vinyl to their favorite Canadian venues. They donated them to Casbah. So we can sell them and generate some revenue at a time when revenue generating is brutally hard. What fab lads (ps we will be sending them half the dough, whether they like it or not)

As the government's "Phase 3" status for economic recovery continues, venues such as The Casbah continue to operate with limited capacities, reduced staffing and shrunken revenues. In order to operate on-line events, such as our Risky Business 80s Zoom & Twitch Party, we require funding to pay those that put their time aside to run them (soundtechs, streaming supervision, disc jockeys). Please consider a small donation towards the "Risky Business Team" on GoFundMe. Thank you
