I am excited to say that to make the best of my new time at home I have worked hard to bring some new programming to my clients. It is roto-magnification therapy. Using a combination of magnetic force surrounding a specialized magnifying glass I can promote healing by concentrating the natural forces surrounding the human body and translating into the tissues so it flows down into your injured areas. A complex treatment protocol can be simply applied to heal you exactly 9....81 times faster by focusing this energy and translating it into Newtons to improve the force that drives the human tissues to heal. This is an exciting new method with the roto-focusing mag device and I am very enthusiastic to be offering this today. Contact me for an assessment. See more

To update everyone on my newest course. I wrapped up a concussion course offered through the University of Calgary and the University of Laval. I have seen many concussion courses out there and navigating what provides a quality learning experience can be quite difficult. A University is accountable to what they are providing so I signed up for this course with it being science based; unfortunately, not everyone has a rigorous definition of 'evidence' so 'evidence based pra...ctice' may not mean much anymore. My only (unsolicited) advise to give people looking for a concussion therapist would be to proceed with caution. P.S. If you like it then please share it. Casey.

It’s a beautiful day in James Bay. I’m ‘on the road’ for the Hornets men’s squads. There’s a pretty nice view over the straight just a block from the pitch.

It has been a while since last posting what I have been up to. I wouldn't have thought people were that interested. I am still working in-clinic a couple days a week (spots are a hot commodity) and in August I took a part-time job doing paediatric care in another municipality. Everyone knows working with kids is my favourite. I started in early intervention with kids aged 0-5yrs but was quickly asked to take over the role in the school system. Every time I walk into a Principle's office I have a chuckle because it seems life has brought me back to a place I spent so much time in as a kid. And working with the Nanaimo Hornets Rugby Club has started up and we are actually down to the last weekend for this half of the season. The men have one last game next weekend in Victoria - hopefully I won't be standing in too much rain.

A little update on my recent adventures. I wrapped up working with the Nanaimo Hornets a few weeks ago - I think I posted about the women taking home the reserve championship. I had a fantastic time working with the men's and women's teams. Lately I am [unofficially] doing some strength and conditioning for my kiddo's softball team, who knew 13 yr olds don't like burpees .... it is crazy! Last weekend I attended the CASEM (Canadian Society of Sport and Exercise Medicine - ... the Canadian Sports medicine physicians club) for the Paediatric Sports Medicine Conference on Sunday May 19. I even got a certificate! I had a fantastic time and was able to discuss a number of issues, mostly concussion related, with a few family and sports docs. Concussion management is really the 'wild west' right now with various groups trying to stake claim to treatment; this leads to a lot of snake oil sales too. Hopefully things will be sorted out over the next few years to ensure quality assessment and treatment. Like all things in recovery from injury, there are no magic pills, no magic machines, no magic methods - so if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Concussion rehabilitation takes hard work on the part of the client and the clinician. Your clinician needs to closely monitor you, push you, and then retract your treatment if needed to balance your symptoms and progress. There is no laser or video game or bouncy ball that will help - it is time, education, and a combination of exercises. Of special note the best science on the planet is showing that for children and youth baseline concussion testing is NOT recommended, useful, or necessary; this is because children and youth are so dynamic, they change so quickly, and they take longer to recover from concussions than adults. They should be out of play for ~ 4 weeks, adults ~ 2 weeks. So if you're concerned about doing pre-season or baseline testing for your children, save your money and support them in playing smart. It is more effective to physically train for technique and fitness, and learn to avoid concussions than to treat them once they are there. See more

What a nice day for a ferry ride. I’m off to Burnaby to support the Nanaimo Hornets Women’s team as they push for the championship.

I am pleased to announce that I will now be offering plant-based physiotherapy. I recently received my YZ-ARC certification for treating plants for their mobility impairments. So when you notice your flowers are not leaning into the sun I can help them along to gather the most out of those glorious rays.

It was another busy weekend. I was hanging out with the Nanaimo Hornets - Men's Reserves and Premier teams took on Victoria in Oak Bay. It was a fantastic day. I might have even got 1/1000 of a shade of sun tan.

It has been a busy month and a bit. In early February I was given the opportunity to present to the local paediatricians. That was a lot of fun. I've been doing some work with the Nanaimo Hornets Rugby Club - a couple of trips to Vancouver to help keep those gents in the ruck. That's been pretty fun too. ... Last week I oriented at Victoria general on the surgical units so that I can observe a complex shoulder reconstruction. That is my agenda tomorrow! I have had a fantastic month.
