Two gift masks for people in need.

Catnip Dreams Tailoring 20.10.2020

Family bundle of masks ready to deliver! 3 adults, 2 teens, and a child. I'll be contacting the customer soon. I appreciate large orders like this, because this allows me to make 7 gift masks for people in need (two gift masks made possible by this order have already been claimed, one by a lovely mama with a seriously ill baby who CANNOT bring the virus home when she has to make necessary trips to the store and has no one to drive for her. This is what I live for and I'm so glad to be able to help)

I just made this mask for a 7 year old child. I'll finish cutting masks for the rest of their family tonight, and sew them in the morning. Remember to fill out the order form for buy one, give one masks!

Back in the saddle, making masks. I'm doing a buy one, give one event. For every mask purchased, I donate one to someone in need in my local community (medical staff, essential personnel, people with disabilities, low-income persons, and new parents, for example) Stay tuned for details!

For the women who made computer science what it is today; for those who believed science and art were one and the same before I was a twinkle in my parents' eyes; for those who continue to fight for women's place in STEM: I present to you this morning's sewing project, CompyFemme's Revenge. A Catnip Dreams exclusive, this dress combines modern and classic elements for a delightfully flowy summer dress. I began with a print designed by SpaceFem (link below) printed on Silky Fa...ille from Spoonflower. I then modified pieces from my own design book as well as pieces from Simplicity pattern #3823 until I was happy with the design and the fit. Best of all, this dress has POCKETS! And they are functional! (And no zipper. This halter top dress is designed in a "pull over" style for maximum convenience and comfort!) Find the print at https://www.spoonflower.com//1402500-floppy-disks-by-space

Finished a sewing project for a much loved and very environmentally conscious family member. I wanted to share the project and the packaging I used. The tissue paper is made of recycled paper - I try to use all environmentally friendly packaging as well as sourcing my materials from local and/or independent shops. Do you know someone who wants to try reusable menstrual or incontinence products? Send them to Catnip Dreams Tailoring! If they are local to Victoria, BC, I can even offer local pickup so you can avoid shipping fees!

And for action shots of the finished product, be sure to check out Kongouseki Cosplay in mid-February! Shout out to Gala Fabrics as always. It's been a while since I posted here...I just want to let any followers or newcomers to the page know that while it may be too late to order a dress for that big holiday party, it's not too late to commission smaller pieces! I will be posting more photos of recent work as November draws to a close...

Progress photos on my big Summer 2016 project - historically accurate hanfu for my own use in local LARP Medieval Chaos, where I will be playing a character named Jun Ling. I drafted the pattern using techniques learned at https://torguqin.wordpress.com/20//30/dummies-guide-aoqun/ and https://torguqin.wordpress.com/2011/04/11/hanfu-curves/ I purchased the fabric at Gala Fabrics with help from Guthrie Douglas Prentice You'll notice I purchase most of my fabric at Gala Fabrics. I greatly recommend them to anyone in or near Victoria, BC. There is a large variety of fabric, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. There is also a Vancouver, BC (Though I have not been to that location so I can only speak of my experiences with the Victoria location)
