Having sold the old Montgomery home, better known as "Ingleside", with great sadness the time has come to offer the contents at public auction. "Ingleside" was the home of L.M. Montgomery's beloved grandfather, Senator Donald Montgomery, one of PEI's first senators. The house, which has been in the Montgomery family for six generations, dates to the 1870's. The house was the setting for Anne of Ingleside and Rilla of Ingleside. The sale will contain many priceless antique...s and heirloom items Montgomery mentioned in her novels and stories, including the "Rosebud Tea Set" from Anne of Green Gables and the "China Fruit Basket" from The Story Girl. The sale also includes a first edition signed copy of A Tangled Web, to her first cousin with her famous cat signature. There are also a number of Items relating to Senator Montgomery include his hand-written appointment to the Senate, his pay statement from 1883, his railway pass (which he used when he accompanied L. M. Montgomery to western Canada in 1890), PEI Legislative Assembly Hansard prior to 1873, Canadian Senate Hansard, the ledger from his days as a storekeeper in Park Corner with many pages containing accounts for residents in the area and large glass inkwells. A house full of furniture and antiques dating back to the early 1800's. Sale will take place on July 25th, beginning at 11:00 a.m. 4615, Route 20 in Park Corner.
