Since we've had some good commentary on banking, I offer the following suggestion: Credit scores have a formula that measures your likelihood of defaulting on a... loan and the interest rate the bank needs to charge to make money. One more thing: if you live within your means by NOT borrowing money, this is judged as a negative: the current measures interpret this as your not being creditworthy. Sorry; you need to keep borrowing money to be able to borrow in the future. Most places have an emergency car insurance agency, where people who can't buy insurance elsewhere can get it (albeit at fairly high rates). We need an emergency money lender (bank) which measures your credit score without penalizing people for NOT borrowing money. If banks have to compete with that, they'll change their practices. Thoughts? -G.
