Bravissimi i fratelli ARPEPE Pelizzatti Perego!
Great article on some great wines!
Great ideas Especially the ArPePe Rosso!
Great shot of the beautiful but steep vineyards!
Solo pochi giorni e finalmente ci siamo! #Vendemmia2020
At Altos Las Hormigas, we got rid of new oak, using only large Italian casks (Botti), non-toasted oak with thicker staves, and less oxygen intake, which make wi...ne aging a much slower process, a cocooning of the tannins structure. The revival of these large casks, once dominating in Argentine winemaking but then forgotten in favour of small barrels, is another of the contributions of Altos Las Hormigas and its team of professionals to contemporary Mendoza winemaking. At Jardín Altamira, our vineyard in the Uco Valley, all the plots are interspersed with native flora, to break the monoculture and invite wild species to popula...te the area. We encourage this coexistence as we look at native flora species as a crucial component of Terroir, which holds a rightful place in the aromatic imprint of a wine. See more
It’s winter here in the southern hemisphere and it is the time of the year in which we prune our vines. Pruning is important in order to eliminate the aged part...s of the plant, as well as last year’s canes, so we can properly trellis them and balance their vigor and production, regulating both quantity and quality. We choose the Guyot pruning system, which moderates the aging of the productive parts of the plants and extends the life of our vineyards. See more
Take a virtual trip to Mendoza with these photos of our vineyard colored by autumn!
"No one has done more to advance that Valtellina reputation than the Pelizzatti Perego family (the Pe Pe in ARPEPE). Their sublime wines benefit from careful selection, meticulous farming and seriously long aging". Many thanks Kevin, can't wait to welcome you back!
"A few months ago, I served an ARPEPE Sassella next to the best of Burgundy and Piedmont at a charity dinner, and it showed beautifully. I was not at all surpri...sed. The best wines of Valtellina can hold their own alongside long-established benchmarks. In my view, Valtellina is a region with tremendous potential, especially as the world furthers its love affair with Nebbiolo" Thank you so much Antonio Galloni! We invite you to read our 2020 Harvest Report! Intense, challenging and thought-inducing, this vintage will be very remembered by the team of ants and by the entire wine community in Mendoza. http://www.altoslashormigas.com/2020-harvest-report/
So nice to see greenery and to know that life continues
As we can't travel let's visit Valtellina virtually!
Wine four of the Decameron takes us to the mountainous north of Italy, Valtellina, where the Nebbiolo grape is cultivated. Ar. Pe. Pe. stands for the name of th...e winery's founder Arturo Pelizzatti Perego. The estate was created in 1984 and today is run by Arturo's children, Isabella, Emanuele and Guido. The 2009 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Inferno Sesto Canto captures the precision and focus of high altitude winemaking. Pair it with a home-cooked meal, and if you can get your hands on a truffle, shave some of that on top. #decamerwines #larnerlist #robertparker @wine_advocate #nebbiolo #chiavennasca #valtellina #valtellinawine #vinoitaliano #italianwine @ Valtellina See more

While terroir-driven bottles from Old World regions such as Burgundy are prohibitive at best, geographically specific Malbecs from the Uco Valley are widely av...ailable on the market. They’re a slight upgrade from mainstream Malbec () providing an affordable intro to the concept of terroir and a glimpse at the future of Argentine winemaking writes Tim McKirdy in his article The Argentine Winemakers Shaping the Future of Malbec in the Uco Valley, published in vinepair.com He recommends our Altos Las Hormigas #Malbec Appellation series in his Five Uco Valley winemakers to try selection! Ar Pe Pe Nebbiolo 2016 Rosso di Valtellina 17++ Their entry-level wine. 115 days on the skins! Just mid ruby. Concentrated sour-cherry nose with a touch of stalkiness and cool, minerally hints with Nebbiolo's typical spiciness. Soft juicy palate with sandpaper-like tannins that follow the fruit in the most unostentatious way but still are present. Very pretty and original and seems much more weighty than its 12.5%. This wine would surprise anyone. (WS) 12.5% Drink 2018 202...6 Walter Speller JancisRobinson.com We just happen to have a few cases of this left :)
Nobody says it better than Isabella!
