Reminder to all that we still have the petition for adult cochlear implant upgrade funding support in the works. The deadline to sign the petition is September 15. If you are collecting signatures then we ask that all pages be sent in to the clinic by that day also. If you would like a copy to start collecting signatures, please contact the clinic. We must have the original signatures for submitting and anyone who signs must be a resident of Manitoba. Your support is greatly appreciated!!

Did you know that there is no assistance for funding cochlear implant upgrades for adults in Manitoba? We would like to see that change. Fortunately, Gladys Nielsen, one of our cochlear implant adults, has enlisted the help of Dr. Jon Gerard, MLA for River Heights, in starting a petition that will be read in the Manitoba Legislature in the spring. Any adult residing in Manitoba can sign the petition. If you are interested, or know someone who is, please come to the clinic and add your name. The more people, the better!

Daddy. Stop moving. Be quiet. We were taking a walk in the fall early morning in the Selkirk Mountains in British Columbia, and our son was blazing his own t...rail through the forest. He had HEARD some deer. They were close. We remained motionless for a minute and spotted 7 deer foraging less than 20 feet away. He whispered to me. Did you know that deer chew their food differently than cows? I can hear them chewing. It sounds different. Did you know that Daddy? Does that mean we are too close?. We watched for awhile as the deer slowly moved along. We continued ourselves. He would never have been able to hear that before his surgery for CIs. Cody, Father of AB Recipient
Have a listen to this great story about a mother who made a film about her son’s cochlear implant journey.
