We support our local departments. To North Oyster, Ladysmith and all the other departments that assisted with incident ( and every one they attend), .... job well done. It’s a pleasure to work with these skilled crews
This will probably be a long post so I will apologize now, but I hope you continue reading Some of you know me, but for those that don’t, I own and operate Cen...tral Island Towing and operate my business in Ladysmith and Nanaimo, and have done so for the last 25 years... I have seen countless accident scenes from minor fender benders to horrific fatalities that destroy families. We work with the RCMP and the fire departments in the Ladysmith area. For a town the size of Ladysmith, we (in my personal opinion) have an extraordinary amount of very serious car crashes, most of which take place at 3 very specific locations. 1) Spitfire road and the Island Hiway at the Nanaimo Airport 2) The corner near North Oyster School on Cedar Rd. So many cars fail to navigate this corner that I actually call it the magnetic corner, as my only explanation for the the amount of vehicles that crash here, is that there must be a massive magnet buried in the ditch that pulls cars towards it... 3) The intersection at Oyster Sto’Lo and the Island Hiway The question I have is, Why? What is it about these 3 specific locations? 2 of which that are intersections controlled by highly visible traffic lights with turn lanes AND specific turn signals.... The problem with the corner on Cedar rd is a design flaw with the corner. I’ve driven this rd almost daily and have had close calls on this corner myself. The reason here is the fact that the radius of the corner tightens at the apex of the corner, and if you aren’t paying attention or are unfamiliar with the road, you will actually drive straight into the ditch if you assume that the corner maintains a consistent radius. The other 2 locations baffle me.... but both of these locations, are repeatedly The scenes of horrific crashes with severe impacts. All 3 of these locations have resulted in MULTIPLE fatalities. I have personally lost people I know at more then one of these spots, and I am certain that someone else I know will again, and probably sooner then later, will die here again. PLEASE !!!!!! SLOW DOWN !!!!! PAY ATTENTION !!!!!!!! And give yourself LOTS of room when on our roads. I’m tired of seeing people lose their lives at these locations, and seeing the faces of the families of the seriously injured or dead victims of these accidents when they come to retrieve personal items from the vehicles involved in these collisions.
Slow down. Move over
Since the weather has changed for the better and summer is finally here, all open burning (category 2&3) will once again be prohibited in the North Oyster Fire Protection Area, starting at noon on July 24th
Our clients trust us to handle some of the rarest and most valuable vehicles. We had the honour of transporting this 1954 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing for one of our clients. If you know anything about classic cars, the value of this car is into the 7 digit area.
