My All Isaiah 12:2 pretty well sums up all a Christian needs to know about his relationship with God. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. (KJV) He is the one who has saved me. He is the one who made the way available for me to spend eternity with Him. As long as He is the centre of my life I know I will be able to trust Him and I will never have a reason to be afr...aid. Everything may not always go the way I would hope or expect, but I know that no matter what happens I can trust in Him and have no fear of the outcome. He is the one that gives me strength in difficult times and the one that gives me songs. Whatever happens my strength comes from Him and there will always be a song in my heart. He will always be more than I need to conquer any situation. Isaiah then ends the verse the way it started. God is my salvation. Ps Ray Richards See more

Routine I got my driver’s license way back in 1966. For the next 45 years I always drove a standard. It has only been the last 10 years that I have driven an automatic. Every so often when I pull up to a stop sign my left foot twitches and tries to go for the clutch. You would think after 10 years my feet would have forgotten about the standard transmission and would have totally adapted to the automatic. It just shows how entrenched in us our habits can become. Spirit...ually many of us similar problems. We have done things for so many years and when we realize we need to change we find it difficult because the old ways is so entrenched. When someone ‘gets saved’ and puts their trust in Jesus it is often difficult to give up old ways even though they know that is what they need to do. The good news is that God does not expect perfection. That is something we can never achieve. What He does want is for us to love Him with all our heart. If we do that we will slowly and consistently draw closer to Him Ps Ray Richards See more

Love There is a custom in parts of North America where friends of a newly married couple will visit their house and carry out various pranks. At the end of the pranks they will then gather in front of the house and sing ‘Let me call you sweetheart, I’m in love with you.’ The song is very simple meaning. The singer is saying that he loves his partner and loves hearing her say the same thing. This is the same thing that God wants. He is constantly saying He loves us and He long...s to hear us say it back to Him. He loved each one of us from the moment of our conception. That loved never waned, no matter how we behaved. But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8, NET) How much greater love could He possible show. The last part of Deuteronomy 10:12 says that God wants us to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (KJV) It seems fairly plain that God deeply loves us and desires us to return that love to Him. Ps Ray Richards See more

A fresh look at a familiar passage of Scripture.

A Man There used to be a TV show called, the Ultimate Fighter, where two men fight until one is either knocked out or submits. Other than that there really seemed to be very few rules. The show seems to reflect the image of a ‘man’ in today’s society. A real man seems to be the one who can fight the hardest and win the most fights. This really has very little to do with manhood. Many men need to figure this out. A real man is one who can control his temper and behave r...ationally at all times. He needs to know when fighting is right and when it is wrong. He needs to be able to cry when he holds a newborn baby. He needs to know how to stand up and constructively defend his loved ones. He needs to be able to love his wife and always treat her, and all women, with the utmost respect. Men need to step up and be men. Growing boys need role models. Proverbs 13:22 says, A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children. (KJV) This need not be a monetary inheritance. A good man needs to leave a legacy that will reach to his grandchildren, something that will convince them to live a life that will leave a legacy for their grandchildren. Ps Ray Richards See more

Isolation Some people it seems are having problems while being isolated. This is nothing new. If you live in rural areas it happens quite often. In winter it’s referred to as ‘cabin fever’. This is even more extreme than the isolation we are experiencing now because the winter isolation makes it more difficult to even get out for a walk. Cabin fever is more intense because often you could not even see across the road the snow would blow so bad. In truth we are never ...totally isolated. We may be separated from friends and family but God will always be with us, if we want Him to be. Psalms 46:1 reminds us, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.(KJV) Whenever we feel isolated, lonely, distressed, uneasy or just feeling blah, we can always turn to Him for comfort. He can cheer us and strengthen us when it is needed. We can draw ourselves close to Him by reading His word or listening to some good old hymns or modern songs that tell of His greatness. He is always there waiting for us to draw close to Him. Ps Ray Richards See more

Messed Up I saw an ad last week, not for used golf balls, not even second hand golf balls. The person was selling experienced golf balls. I have golfed enough to know that if the balls are experienced and for sale, it means someone has lost them somewhere. The seller probably went through the rough and streams on a golf course, picked up all the lost balls and then tried to sell them. Before he sold them, he most likely went through them and threw away the ones that had ...slices in them or looked messed up. He would only have been interested in the golf balls that looked good. Thank heavens God is different. He knows we are all experienced in some way. We all have flaws and blemishes. None of us are in pristine condition spiritually. We all have sinned. God does not sort through this menagerie of humanity and choose only the ‘good looking’ ones. He leaves the door open for all. Anyone, no matter what our experiences have been or how messed up we may be, can be welcomed by Him. All we have to do is confess our sins to Him and accept His son Jesus as our Saviour. Trust In these difficult times it’s hard to know what to believe. One doctor says one thing and another says the opposite. The government tells us a certain thing needs to be done, but then other organizations tell us they are not necessary or possibly even harmful. Whom are we to believe and trust. In Psalms 25:2, David starts the statement, O my God, I trust in thee. The word used here for trust is to hold on to something by clinging to it. If we cling to God we can... be assured that He will bring us through any situation in which we may find ourselves. That doesn’t mean that everything will go perfectly or that we will understand everything. It does mean, however, that in the end, it is His strength that will sustain us and pull us through. If our faith and trust is in Him we can be assured that no matter what may happen, when all is said and done, we will spend eternity with Him, safe in His arm. That is why I put my trust in God and not man. Ps Ray Richards See more
