Did you know that dental disease is the most common clinical condition seen among pets. Statistics show 4 out of 5 dogs and 7 out of 10 cats have dental disease by the time they are 3 years old. Some signs of dental disease to look out for in your pets are bad breath, red gums, difficulty chewing kibble, and pawing at their mouth. Some ways to prevent dental disease is keeping your pets on a good quality dental diet, using water additives or dental wipes, giving your pets dental treats, and by brushing their teeth regularly. Looking for dental products for your pet? We carry a number of dental treats, diets, and other products to help keep your pets oral hygiene the best it can be. Contact the clinic to order your pets their dental products, or check out our Webstore and order online!
Here at CVS we take pride in making your pets feel comfortable and like they are a part of the family. Our Technician, Mack, has coordinated her outfit with Senators to make him feel like he really fits in!
February is pet dental health month! Did you know that your pets diet plays a big role in their dental health... There are two cats in these photos, and both of them are 4 years old. The cat in the top right photo is a healthy 4 year old cat that has been on the dental diet for the past 3 years, since coming off of the kitten diet, and has yet to require a dentistry. The other photos are of a 4 year old cat we recently had in for a dentistry with obvious dental disease. Book a dental consult for your pet during the month of February, and get a bag of Hill's t/d Dental Care at your appointment!
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved clinic cat, Smooch. Smooch passed away peacefully yesterday, at the senior age of 17, surrounded by all of his staff. Smooch has been head of security here at CVS since December 2012, he made sure nothing left our reception desk without his knowledge, and no one approached the desk without giving him a good head rub. If you scratched his head just right, you would activate an endless stream of drool, and if he really liked you, he'd show you his stuffed Zoboomafoo. Smooch will be missed by all of his staff at Campbellford Vets, his feline companion Addy, and by all of the clients that looked forward to seeing his face peer at them over our front desk. If you have any happy memories of our sweet Smooch, please share them in the comments!

Where there’s a comfy spot to lay down, you’ll almost always find Addy where’s your cats favourite place to nap during the day?
This sweet friendly cat was found on Front Street in Campbellford. It has a warm space to rest it’s head and a full dish of food. If you think this may be your cat, please send us a message with proof of ownership so we can reunite this sweet cat with its people that are surely missing it!
"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them." - Laurence Binyon
Update on Services available- We are excited that we are now allowed to return to offering elective surgeries and non-urgent appointments and care. This will be a gradual process. Read on to find out what this will look like. COVID-19 protocols and precautions are still in place. Clients will not be allowed in the building except in special circumstances such as euthanasias. Our exam rooms and reception area simply aren't large enough to support physical distancing requir...ements. For appointments or pick-up of pre-ordered medications and food, please continue to call us when you arrive in the parking lot. A team member will come out to assist you. Wireless debit\credit machine is available. Elective surgeries - we have been maintaining a waiting list of pets needing spays, neuters, dentistries, etc. At this time we are working our way through that list to schedule procedures. If you need these services, please email or call the clinic to be added to the list. I'm sure all of those quarantining in the same house with a cat in heat, will be relieved. Physical examination and vaccinations. Puppy and kitten vaccinations have been available throughout the past two months. We are now able to add adult pets back into the schedule for vaccination. Again, we have a list of pets who are overdue for this care, and will be contacting those first. In the meantime, if you need flea\tick medications or heartworm prevention - please contact us. With ticks very prevalent this year, we don't want pets unprotected. Nail trims - These will be available for pets coming in for appointments\vaccination. Routine nail trims on their own won't start booking for a little while yet. We need to get surgeries and vaccinations caught up a little first. We just don't have additional staff for these at the moment. Please be patient during this re-opening. We remain at reduced staff, as staff members with young children or vulnerable family members needing care are still unavailable. The past two months have been very busy with emergencies and now we will be adding vaccinations and surgeries, with the same size of team. Trust that we are trying our very best to get caught up. Email remains the best way to contact us for non-urgent matters, as the phones are often quite busy. [email protected] We've made it this far folks. Let's all continue to protect each other through physical distancing and staying home as much as possible. We can't wait to see you in person again, but for now we will continue to manage the "curbside" service, for everyone's safety. The team at Campbellford Veterinary Services

Is your pet up to date on their Rabies vaccination? September 28th is World Rabies Day! We have been observing World Rabies Day since 2007, and it is to raise awareness about how Rabies can be prevented, and the impact which it has. There is no cure for Rabies, and it is almost always fatal. The best way to prevent this disease, is to keep your pets Vaccines up to date. If you're unsure whether your pets up to date on their Rabies vaccine, contact their Veterinarian.
Refer to your pet as your boss and tell us what your boss is calling you into their office for My boss called me into his office to remind me that his fountain is to be on by 8:00 am, 8:01 is unacceptable.
A box is great, a box with noisy paper is better! - Smooch

Happy Tuesday! We would just like to remind all of you that we are doing our best to remain stocked with all of your pets medications, however some medications are special order and require a little more time to fill. Please give us as much notice as possible for refilling your pets prescriptions, make sure they aren't running out completely before ordering more. Thank you!!
Our pets are more than just animals, they are our best friends and members of the family. We love them the same as we would our human family, so why not have a day to remember our furry family members that are no longer with us.
