In our Romans study, we left off just after this remarkable hymn that Paul seemingly explodes with after contemplating God’s exquisite work among the object of his affection, the human being. This is the CSB (Christian Standard Bible) translation: Oh, the depth of the riches ... and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and untraceable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? And who has ever given to God, that he should be repaid?, For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:3336

Another word from Romans 11 that gets a lot of attention is the word all in verse 26 - And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, The Deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. - Romans 11:26 CSB [https://www.bible.com/1713/rom.11.26.csb] Here’s what Pastor David Guzik from [http://enduringword.com] puts in his comments on that verse: "All Israel will be saved: This all Israel is not spiritual Israel. It isn’t spi...ritual Israel in Romans 11:25, because that Israel is spiritually blind. Therefore, we shouldn’t regard it as spiritual Israel in Romans 11:26. i. There is a distinction between national or ethnic Israel and spiritual Israel. Paul makes this clear in Galatians 3:7 and other passages. Nevertheless, God still has a purpose and a plan for ethnic Israel and will bring salvation to them. ii. We also know this is not spiritual Israel because Paul says this is a mysteryand it is no mystery that spiritual Israel will be saved. iii. Harrison on all Israel: It was the view of Calvin, for example, that the entire company of the redeemed, both Jew and Gentile, is intended. But Israel has not been used of Gentiles in these chapters, and it is doubtful that such is the case in any of Paul’s writings. iv. It is impossible to entertain an exegesis which understands Israel here in a different sense from Israel in verse 25. (Bruce)" [https://ref.ly/o/guzikcomm66ro/275143?length=1017]

IGNORANCE "There is the ignorance which comes from neglect of knowledge. There is a legal principle which says that genuine ignorance may be a defence, but neglect of knowledge never is. People cannot be blamed for not knowing what they never had a chance to know; but they can be blamed for neglecting to know things that were always open to them. For instance, if anyone signs a contract without having read the conditions, that person cannot complain if afterwards it is disc...overed that the conditions are very different from what was originally understood. If we fail to equip ourselves for a task when every chance is given to us to equip ourselves adequately for it, we must stand condemned. As individuals, we are responsible for failing to know what we might have known. There is the ignorance which comes from wilful blindness. We have an innite and fatal capacity for shutting our minds to what we do not want to see, and stopping our ears to what we do not want to hear. A person may be well aware that some habit, some indulgence, some way of life, some friendship, some association must inevitably have disastrous results; but that person may simply refuse to look at the facts. To turn a blind eye may be, in a very few cases, a virtue; in most cases, it is folly. There is the ignorance which is in essence a lie. The things about which we are in doubt are far fewer than we would like to think. There are in reality very few occasions when we can honestly say: ‘I never knew that things would turn out like this.’ God gave us conscience and the guidance of his Holy Spirit; and often we plead ignorance when, if we were honest, we would have to admit that in our heart of hearts we knew the truth" - William Barclay https://ref.ly/o/ndsb66ro/323272?length=1714 See more

The video from the 11am in-person gathering yesterday is up! Check it out. As a church, we are reading and studying through the Apostle Paul’s letter to the believers in Rome. This week, Andy was in chapter 10, where Paul lays out his strategy for cooperating with the Holy Spirit in seeing his family members receive salvation.
