Electricity Pricing To support Ontarians staying home during the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, the Government of Ontario has taken steps to hold the price of electricity at 8.5 /kWh for electricity used from January 1, 2021 until the end of the day on January 28, 2021. The fixed 8.5 /kWh price is equal to the off-peak price set by the OEB for January 1, 2021. This fixed price will apply to residential, small business and farm customers who buy their electricity from ...their utility and applies to customers on Time-of-Use (TOU) or Tiered pricing. So, no matter what time of day you use your electricity, or how much you use, the fixed price will apply. The price change will happen automatically. No customer action is required. For Chapleau Hydro customers, this pricing will be reflected on your Feb 16, 2021 bill which will be for January's consumption.
New Electricity Prices Effective January 1, 2021 Although RPP prices are decreasing, the impact of the reduced supply costs on the electricity bills of RPP customers will be offset by a reduction in the Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER) from 33.2% to 21.2% also effective January 1, 2021. The OER is a total pre-tax credit that is funded by the Province and appears at the bottom of electricity bills. https://www.oeb.ca//ontario-energy-board-sets-new-electric

Time-Of-Use (TOU) Customer Choice Choosing Your Electricity Price Plan If you are a residential or small business customer that pays Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity prices, you can choose to switch to Tiered prices beginning November 1, 2020.... With TOU, the price you pay depends on when you use electricity. With Tiered prices, you can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price. Once that limit is exceeded, a higher price applies. If you want to continue paying TOU prices, no action is required. If you would like to learn more about your pricing options, visit www.oeb.ca/choice. To switch from TOU to Tiered prices, you must notify us by completing an election form. We will begin accepting election forms on October 13, 2020. There is no deadline. You can ask to switch at any time. Election forms are available on our website or by emailing [email protected]. http://www.chapleau.ca//TimeOfUseTOUCustomerChoiceChoosing

We're accepting applications for the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program and the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business. These initiatives were launched by the Government of Ontario and make funding available for residential customers, small businesses, and registered charitable organizations to help pay their energy bills. CEAP provides a one time, on-bill credit to eligible residential electricity customers up to a maximum of $115; however, if the home is heat...ed primarily by electricity or an energy intensive medical device is used in the residence then the customer could be eligible for a credit up to a maximum of $230. CEAP-SB provides a one time, on-bill credit to eligible small businesses and registered charities up to a maximum of $850 for those who primarily use electricity for heating, or up to $425 if electricity is not their main heat source. We are aware of a power outage affecting some of our customers and are out investigating.
OEB looking for input on tiered electricity pricing The Ontario Energy Board is looking for input as they develop rules to allow electricity customers to opt out of time-of-use pricing in favour of tiered pricing on November 1st. The OEB says under tiered prices, a customer can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price.... Once that limit is exceeded, the price goes up. Time-of-use offers different rates for different parts of the day, with cheaper rates during mid and off-peak times. Officials say tiered pricing gives consumers the flexibility to use electricity at any time of day at a fixed price while still encouraging conservation. Right now the fixed COVID-19 Recovery Rate is in place until October 31st. You can find the OEB survey HERE: https://t.co/j2OHQm7WQd?amp=1
Power is restored. If you're still having issues please call 705-864-0111.
In order to perform repairs, all customers from NAPA to the OPP station will experience a power outage for approximately 30 minutes. We apologize for the inconvenience.
