Welcome to Our Cheers To You Annual Wine and Food Pairing Event. Our Event will take place at Sir Richard’s Wine & Ale house @11828 Tecumseh Rd (old Spitfire Firkin) east of Banwel, Windsor. This year we will have 4 great dates to accommodate everyone: November 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th/20 Starting 6:30... This year we changed it up a bit, seating will be based on your bubble so we ask to fill your table up if at all possible 3x booths of 8 6x booths of 4 2x Tables of 6 4x Tables of 2 Select the seating you want; first come first serve based on seating capacity plus Pre- select your meal Menu as follow: Everyone will receive 4x 2oz tasting with matching charcutier plate of the following Brie cheese, sliced pear, Cranberry goat cheese with cracker, Kielbasa, Dark chocolate, mixed nuts, dry-cured Pepperoni, Percorino cheese The following is the meal with one 6oz glass of wine, please choose one for each of your guest sitting at your assigned table 1. 3 Post White from South Africa/Australia --- Grilled Salmon with lemon basil cream served with English style mushy peas or, vegetarian Potato Pizza flatbread w/caramelized onions & fresh rosemary with olive oil & bechamel sauce, served with fresh greens & lemon vinaigrette 2. Light Strike: Why Wine and Sunlight Don’t Mix Unless you want its fruity and floral aromas to become those of cooked cabbage, wet cardboard and wet dog, make sure your wine and sunlight stay far away from each other. Keep reading for more on this and what else you can do to protect your wine. Did you know that direct sunlight exposure can change a wonderful bottle of wine to nasty swill? This unfortunate phenomenon is light strike.... Light strike occurs when the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays flood the bottle. This excites the wine’s naturally occurring riboflavin (Vitamin B2) and pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5). These energized molecules then react with naturally present amino acids. This yields sulfur containing compounds that we can smell at very low levels, and they stink! So protect you wine from light 3 hours of sun exposure is all it takes for wine damage to occur in clear bottles. Wine in green bottles takes only 18 hours. Be mindful of where a store has placed its wine before purchasing.
