I am predominantly running a mobile service; however, you can still book in through the clinic. I am also excited to announce that I am now certified in level 2 Thai massage. A demonstrational video is soon to come! Contact: 778-808-3571 (text/call) [email protected] (email)

IS MASSAGE THERAPY SUPPOSED TO BE PAINFUL?? In short, no it should never be painful only yield a mild state of discomfort. I know a lot of people that are wary to receive therapeutic massage due to what they have heard or experienced. The term deep tissue is widely misunderstood, and misinterpreted. I also have a lot of clients who have the, no pain, no gain mentality of massage therapy. That is not in my job description to inflict pain on my clients and potentially cau...se further tissue damage. At certain points during the massage, you may feel some levels of discomfort when your therapist works on areas where there are adhesions or scar tissue. I often attempt to educate clients on what pain really is. When receiving massage you should be at a comfortable level of sensation. Some common signs that the pressure is out of your tolerance level are heavy breathing, holding breath, not breathing at all, grimacing and clenching your jaw. You should never feel like you are going through torture when receiving bodywork. You should always communicate with your therapist if you feel pain during the massage. The therapist can adjust their technique or further warm up the fascia if the superficial structures are holding tension. Pain isn't good, and it's NOT a sign that the massage is working. In fact, your body may tense up in response to pain, making it harder for the therapist to penetrate the deeper muscles and connective tissue. Don’t get me wrong a lot of times massage is full of sensation; however, ask yourself: am I experiencing sensation or pain? Make sure you are communicating with your therapist your tolerance level and that they are working in your threshold. See more

Do you often experience a dull, aching pain between your shoulder blades? This can often be caused from tension and trigger points of the levator scapula muscle. The levator scapula originates on the transverse processes of the top four neck vertebrae (the bony parts that stick out on the sides of your neck under your ears) and attaches to the upper inner corner of the shoulder. Levator lies underneath the upper trapezius and other muscles. You use this muscle during every d...ay actions such as rotating your head when changing lanes in traffic, holding the phone between your ear and shoulder and any type shoulder elevation. Why is this such a universally sore area? One cause may be unconscious, habitual tension, a response to stressors of raising the shoulders toward the ears. It can be also caused by the infamous forward head posture which causes the muscle to become chronically short and tight. How can I help? Swedish massage is the workhouse of traditional massage techniques. It is utilized to promote relaxation, reduce muscle tension, improve tissue extensibility. I use it in my everyday practice to treat many causes of muscle pain as it helps to reduce pain perception by stimulating touch receptors and blocking nociceptive feedback. After applying Swedish massage I work deeper into the muscular layers and work to release myofascial trigger points (hyperirritable taut bands within the muscle). See more
