Today is officially Bernie Black Day. My Grandfather (Pa) was a special person in all of the family's lives. Here's to the Legacy he has left behind. Bernie possessed a seemingly endless repertoire as a pianist. His ability to recall obscure song titles or settle other musical questions was renowned throughout the industry. He entertained in the form of comedy, sing-a-longs, show tunes and jazz. His career as a solo performer spotlighted his gift to 'read a room' and p...rovide his fans with an amazing performance rarely seen in today's clubs. Jazz trios, quartets, soloist, coast to coast radio, CBC performances, numerous television appearances, featured artist at Massey Hall, this consummate entertainer never stopped honing his craft. Bernie gave us his 'gift of music', but he considered his most precious gift to be the love of his family. We have been blessed to have Bernie touch our lives in one way or another. Dear Wards 3 &4 Resident: I am pleased to share that at a recent Council Meeting, we approved the Caledon Traffic Calming Strategy. This is something that we (C...ouncillor DeBoer and Councillor Innis) have been strongly advocating for during our time as your Councillors. This strategy aims at providing a town-wide standardized and systematic procedure for initiation, investigation, implementation, and monitoring of traffic calming measures. Traffic calming involves implementing various safety measures to reduce speed and encourage safe driving for all road users. It can also help reduce traffic. The main objective of traffic calming measures are to: -Reduce the speed of traffic -Reduce collision severity and frequency -Improve safety for drivers and pedestrians -Enhance safety of pedestrians and cyclists -Increase the quality of rural and urban life Staff have reviewed the requests that were received over the past few years, evaluated against the criteria, and then prioritized based on the methodology outlined in the approved Town policy. The following roads below in Wards 3 & 4 have been identified as high priority locations: -Harvest Moon Drive; -Cedargrove Road; -Walker Road; -Innis Lake Road; -Atchison Drive; -Cranston Drive. Given the roadways above have a long stretch, various traffic calming measures were warranted and will be implemented, including: Vertical Centreline Treatment (Flexible Bollards); Radar Speed Signs; Pavement Marking and Road Diet; and All-Way Stop Controls. The Traffic Calming Implementation plan is pictured below for more information. Over the next couple of months, the approved plans will be implemented on the roadways mentioned above, and given the comprehensiveness of the measures, it is expected that the speeding issues will be addressed significantly. They will then be monitored and reviewed to ensure its effectiveness. If your neighbourhood regularly experiences high traffic speed, and you are interested in learning more, please do not hesitate to contact Councillor DeBoer ([email protected]) or Regional Councillor Innis ([email protected]). Residents are also encouraged to submit their request for traffic calming directly to the Town at: https://www.caledon.ca/en/town-services/traffic-calming.aspx.
