Clara Levesque, a proud 11-year-old donor, inspires us all this holiday season! Her mission is to help people whose lives have been greatly affected by the pandemic. There for, she carried out a donation drive at her school. Thank you to Clara and to the students of Paul Jarry School, your support counts greatly. #ChezDoris #generosity

Gift bags, personalized gift cards, brunch boxes, and fresh fruits & veggies all for our lovely ladies this Holiday season!! Thank you so much to all of our incredible donors, volunteers, and staff who made the delivery of over 200 holiday baskets to our women with fixed housing possible this past weekend. Thanks to their hard work and long hours, this initiative reached many of our women who we have not been able to see in a very long time and whom we miss dearly. #ChezDoris #LDS #ligttheworld

Since the official announcement of the opening of Chez Doris 24H/24 starting December 1st, we are in the preparations to beready to provide homeless women a safe place, where they can warm up and sleep this winter. We need your help! We are looking for phentex slippers that women can wear instead of their boots. You can bring them to 1430 Chomedey St, between 8 AM and 5 PM, 7 days a week.... #thankyou #chezdoris

Here’s a McGill News article written on the eve of Thanksgiving. The pandemic continues to present us with logistical dilemmas for the next holidays. More than 600 different homeless women have walked through our doors since the beginning of COVID-19.

We would like to introduce you to two amazing volunteers : Julie, retired psychotherapist who helps women that suffered from trauma, abuse or toxicomany and Dominique, social worker specialized in mental health cases, marginalised population and suicide prevention. These devoted women, are here to support women's mental health through active listening. Twice a week, Julie and Dominique offer their time to listen and talk to women, either they go for a walk around the neighbourhood or they sit in a private room. #chezdoris #volunteer

Chez Doris 07.10.2020

In 1974, a woman named Doris was living alone, without housing, impoverished, and battling alcoholism. Her one wish was to have a place to go without prying eyes and too many questions. It is thanks to this expressed desire that the idea of Chez Doris was born, brought to life, and continues to thrive to this day. Unfortunately, Doris never had the chance to experience the sanctuary that is now Chez Doris as she passed away on this day, 46 years ago, following a traumatic assault and violent end. Today, we celebrate Doris’ life and remember the spirt - and the reason - that brings us all together. #chezdoris

Thanks to funding from the Societe Makivik and the federal program, Reaching Home, managed by the CIUSSS du Centre Sud de l’Île de Montréal, Chez Doris will offer a 24/7 service from December 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021, in order to offer homeless women a safe to stay during the cold season. This initiative is part of the winter measures for the homeless announced by the Ville de Montréal today. Chez Doris will offer 18 beds or cots as well as 16 seats in its dining hall. Throughout the night, tea, coffee, soup and cookies will be available. This service is part of our mission to provide a safe, non-judgmental place for all women in difficulty. #chezdoris
