Thank you Laura Mae Lindo for your support of the work we do with young people. Advocacy from our elected officials on these issues is so important!
It has been a difficult year for all of us, but 2020 has been especially challenging for victimized children and youth. Many of their resources and safe spaces have been taken away by the pandemic. In a lot of ways, the voices of young people have been silenced. Today is #GivingTuesday and the beginning of our Holiday Campaign. It is our responsibility now and always to do everything we can to protect, support, and advocate for children and families. If you're able, please co...nsider donating. Today only - CanadaHelps will add $2.00 to every donation over $20.00! https://www.canadahelps.org//chariti/child-witness-centre/
Thank you so very muchI truly believe that it could be the difference between life and death for some young people who have already gone through so much. A parent shared this with us after their child received support from CWC. It resonated deeply. If we weren't here to help, vulnerable children and youth would slip through the cracks, with terrible consequences. Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. It's your chance to support those who need it most.... Community donations will go even further tomorrow. For each gift of over $20, CanadaHelps will add $2! canadahelps.org/en/charities/child-witness-centre/ Thank you! #GivingTuesdayCA #GivingTuesdayWR
A huge thank you to United Way Waterloo Region Communities for granting us $12,500 through the General Community Fund to support victimized children and youth through the investigation of abuse, helping them begin to heal. We are so very grateful for your support and all you do in the community!
We are so grateful to Capacity Canada for selecting us to participate in the Creative Day for Social Good (CD4SG). We look forward to working with the team of students and partners to create marketing tools to help build our brand. This is a wonderful opportunity and will have a huge impact for the 17 non-profit organizations that were chosen.
Children who suffer abuse may go unnoticed while Canadians continue to spend more time at home during the global pandemic. For those children at risk, home is not always a safe place. As a community, we all have a role in protecting children. Don't wait. If you are worried about a child, reach out. Visit cac-cae.ca to learn more. Thank you Snowflake Place for Children and Youth Inc. for sharing.... #KidsCantWait
Today is World Mental Health Day and it is only fitting to launch our Instagram Page (https://www.instagram.com/nsdmonetthefacilitydog/?hl=en) dedicated to our Facility Dog, Monet who will provide additional mental health supports to the children, youth and families we support through the criminal court process in Waterloo Region. Monet has been working steadily with some of our clients since the beginning of July, providing comfort, calmness, and a soothing touch. One par...ent reported that her child was a lot less anxious and enjoyed spending time with Monet, having a positive impact on her comfort level. Monet was generously provided to us by National Service Dogs (NSD). This will be the first Facility Dog in Waterloo Region working within the criminal justice process in our Child Witness Program. With demonstrated success, we can see the use of Facility Dogs expanding to the children and youth in the various programs within and communities served by the Child Witness Centre.
Today is National Child Day! It is so important that all of play our part in ensuring that youth and children are #SeenAndHeard. This is a mission that is embodied everyday by work of the Child Witness Centre and the many other tremendous organizations serving young people in our communities. Think about what you can do today as a parent, teacher, friend, or ally to protect and support children and youth.... One way is to build your awareness of and support local community organizations such as CWC in the work that they do. To learn more about CWC or to donate, visit childwitness.com.
We are looking for a part-time Marketing, Communications and Events person. Go to our website at: https://childwitness.com/about-us/employment-opportunities/ for more information on how to join our Team!
With only 2 days to go, please consider supporting us in Ride for Refuge to raise much needed funds for victimized children and youth. Every donation helps us help them and our caring and compassionate professionals (including our amazing Facility Dog, Monet) can help change the trajectory of their lives. We are about halfway to our goal and this is your chance to help us out! We wish there was no need for an agency like ours, be we know that the families that we serve are happy that we are there. https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx
We are excited to share with you our 2019-20 Annual Report highlighting the support we were able to provide young people and their families, thanks to the support from our community. Check it out here: https://secureservercdn.net//Child-Witness-Centre-2019-20-
Thank you United Way Waterloo Region Communities for your support of both our Child & Youth Advocate Program and the Child Witness Program that supported over 1,500 young people last year. We will be running our own internal staff campaign in the fall to support you.
We are so grateful to The Guelph Community Foundation for providing critical funding to our Child Witness Program that supports children and youth who are victimized by crime. At least 5 young people and their families in Guelph and Wellington County will be supported by a grant from The Guelph Community Foundation, helping them have a voice and fostering healing, hope and wellbeing. Thank you for all you do for our communities. Check out their website at: https://www.guelphcf.ca/
The Ride for Refuge is happening again! It may look different this year but the cause remains the same to raise much needed funds for CWC. This year, we have raised our goal to $15,000. With 18 days to go, we are at 21% of our goal. The difference this year is that due to COVID: You DIY or self-organize in COVID-friendly teams or groups. No cost for people to join in on the fun.... RIDE Freestyle Walk, ride, do a challenge..the activities are endless. Here is how you can support us: 1) Register a team, gather your friends and select a fundraising activity you all love. 2) Make a donation to a CWC Team and know that you are doing some good. The link to join or donate is: https://rideforrefuge.org/charity/childwitnesscentre With the continued demand for our services, join us and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people!
Thank you Service 1st Heating and Cooling for taking care of us at the Child Witness Centre. Your continued support is amazing and we are so thankful for community partners like you!
We are extremely grateful to everyone involved in the 2020 Farwell4Hire Campaign from Mike and Jenn, the Farwell4Hire Crew and those who were behind the scenes helping, and everyone in the community who supported this campaign so strongly. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness! It means so much to us to have incredible partners in our community, who do so much for so many and we are honoured to have been chosen to be one of the recipients this year.
Here's a great way to help the community!
Without incredible partners like the Widows Sons Grand River Chapter, we would not be able to help vulnerable young people in our community. Even though the 2020 Charity Ride could not happen this year, it didn't stop members of the Widows Sons Grand River Chapter from kicking in! Thank you for your continued support, we are truly grateful.
