START YOUR DAY WITH GRATITUDE The Frequency Bias or Illusion is the phenomenon that occurs when one has been exposed to something new, and suddenly it seems to appear everywhere. This often happens when people make the decision to purchase a new brand of shoes, or a new car; suddenly they see the exact shoe on everyone’s feet , or the same car seems to be on every street . By consciously practicing gratitude, we can use this to our advantage, to make our perceived exp...erience of life a more positive one overall. With regular gratitude practice we slowly run out of the basic, or standard things to be grateful for. Once we’ve acknowledged and felt thanks for our basic blessings, the things like our family, friends, house, health, pets, spouses, etc., we have to start looking outside the box for new things to be grateful for. Fostering the habit of looking for what we’re grateful for helps keep us in the present, feeling more joy. Today, let’s start with gratitude. Take a few minutes to write a list of all the things in your life that you are thankful for. As you go about your day, consider anything you may have missed on that list, and acknowledge it for later. Let us know how it goes. IMPORTANT NOTICE (just emailed out). Hello everyone! On October 6, 2020 the College of Massage Therapists of BC put out notice stating that the Covid Screening Survey that is emailed to you 24 hours before each appointment MUST be completed the day before your appointment. The college is not accepting same day completion and expects that RMTs cancel appointments in cases where the patient does not complete the survey before hand.... This means I will not be permitted to allow you into the clinic at the time of your appointment if this form was not completed the day before (ie. you cannot complete it in the car just minutes before your appointment). This also means that same day appointments are not permitted. The earlier in the day the better! Go get the mail and keep going around the block. You can fit in literally 5 minutes. If you already have a workout today, the 5 minutes with fresh air will be an amazing mental bonus and if you normally don’t get a chance to move your body during the day, this will be a huge boost forward in your physical goals. What keeps you from consistency? Fear of failure? Fear of boredom? Forgetfulness? Overwhelm? Apathy? Change the narrative in your head. You know deep down that consistency is the only thing that has ever worked to reach a goal, so what do you need to do differently than what you’ve done all the other times it didn’t work? For example, if boredom is your pitfall, find a fun solution! Find a habit you can be consistent with that brings you joy. Turn something mundane into peac...eful or exciting. Ie. while doing meal prep or kitchen cleaning (boring ), listen to a new audio book or podcast (fun! ). What are you going to do to stay consistent?
