Ciociaro Softball Complex Social Distancing Softball Rules, Guidelines & Procedures Many are probably wondering how the sport of slo-pitch softball will be played once the lockdown is eased and health officials deem it safe to resume activities under a ‘new normal’ that includes social distancing. ... This document outlines how our facility plans to adjust our rules and procedures, as we do our absolute best to provide a facility that is safe for our players, staff and all attendees. Our Social Distancing Softball rules were made using the newly created NSA Canada guidelines as a basis. April 20th Covid-19 Update We know that everyone is ready to get out of their houses and start playing some softball, and so are we. Despite the current situation, we're continuing to work behind the scenes to play a full summer slo-pitch season, just as soon as we're given the green light by the province and by health officials. Regular diamond and field preparations begin this week, and work continues as we prepare for all scenarios that might arise as a result of th...e Covid-19 pandemic. Here are some of the updates that we can provide at this time: PARK OPENING DAY - Earliest possible opening day is now slated for Sunday, May 31, 2020. That date is tentative, and will be revised if required. TOURNAMENTS - No tournaments will be offered until July. A tournament schedule will be released in May. FALL LEAGUES - Fall leagues have been canceled for this season to allow for the completion of summer leagues. PAYMENT DEADLINE - As mentioned in our previous update, the payment deadline for summer leagues has been extended to April 29. Payments are accepted by electronic transfer or by business cheque (drop off only). FREE TOURNAMENT - All teams who have paid in full by the extended deadline of April 29 receive a FREE tournament. SCHEDULES - Schedules are currently being prepared. We are scheduling for a full season. Due to delays caused by Covid-19, it is anticipated that the 2020 season will likely play into October. Schedules will be completed and emailed to managers/coaches in the early part of May. RULES - Rules are being updated currently and will be emailed to managers along with schedules, in early May. MEETINGS - Managers meetings remain canceled for this season. When the email has been sent out to managers with the rules and regulations, it will include a date and time for the online 'meeting' where we'll review the rules and league information. COVID-19 RELATED - We are currently reviewing all areas of our operation, from the gameplay itself, to dugout and picnic table usage, food and beverage services, and more...all as they relate to protecting our staff and guests from the spread of the virus. We're committed to offering a safe and clean facility for you and for our staff. We'll be taking several precautions and our operation will see several changes this season to ensure everyone's safety moving forward in this new era. We look forward to seeing everyone out there before long.

Covid-19 Update We are monitoring the Covid-19 situation just as all of you are. Things are continually changing and we are watching closely to see what effects it will have on our operations for this season. We are continuing to plan for a full slo-pitch season, with a delayed starting date. ... We're all looking for something to look forward to, once the situation stabilizes, so hopefully softball season can be one of those things. Below are some of the changes that have been made, as we respond to this evolving situation: In-Person Registration Sessions (March 25, April 8 - CANCELLED - All registrations and payment collections for the 2020 season will now be ONLINE ONLY. That means that any forms should be submitted by email, and any payments should be made by e-transfer, or by credit card. Cash and cheque will not be accepted at this time. If you still need to complete your registration form or scheduling request, but can't find the forms from an earlier email, just let me know and I can send you the files. Managers Meetings (April 22, April 23) - CANCELLED - This year's in-person managers meetings are unfortunately unable to be conducted. Schedules and rules will be forwarded to coaches in late April, and any rules that were up for revision will be noted and coaches will be able to vote for or against any changes. We'll go live on Facebook also in late April to give a 'tutorial' of the rules for those who wish to tune in. Schedules will be provided via email, hopefully at the same time as the rules are delivered. Payment Deadline (April 8)- EXTENDED TO APRIL 29 - We realize that the uncertainty of the current situation leaves many people dealing with decreased income and potentially increased expenses. We've extended the payment deadline to April 29 to give managers extra time to collect money and prepare for the season. Free Tournament Benefit Deadline (April 1) - EXTENDED TO APRIL 29 - If you complete your team's payment by April 29, you receive a free tournament, as a thank you from us for you and your team. Park Opening Day (May 3) - DELAYED UNTIL AT LEAST MAY 10 - May is never a great month with regard to weather, but the Covid-19 situation will effectively determine when we are able to begin play for the 2020 season. We will implement aggressive cleaning and disinfecting measures to ensure the safety of all of our customers, along with changes to the delivery of our food and beverage services that will ensure the safety of the public and our staff. We'll continue to monitor the situation like the rest of you are, and make adjustments to the opening date if required by the Province or the Health Unit. We'll communicate any further updates, as soon as they become available. Be safe, be healthy. Stay home if you can, and practice social distancing. We'll be on the diamonds before long.
