Handbuilt by @cognoscenti_hand_built_wheels ...so you know these are the business. So many conversations now about tyre clearance and outrageous places we might ride ourselves into. Aside from great fit...wheels have always been a big deciding factor in how the rest of the bike will come together. We need to consider... the 80/20 rule...if 80% of the time we ride in decent conditions we can just slug it out and hack through the odd 20% of the time. I remember the days I would ride my new carbon road bike with 28’s(early adopter to plus size tyres) and felt like I could go anywhere. Bunny hop curbs, hit trails, and cut through grassy fields. Might not have been what the bike was optimally designed for...but doable all be it slower and at risk of a puncture. From early adopter of plus sized tyres on road bikes to late adopter to mountain bikes...
