Here are a couple of ideas to get you back in the groove: Use a digital device to track your steps and set a daily goal.... Whether its an Apple watch, a FitBit, or an app on your phone, there are a lot of ways to count your steps. Set a daily steps goal, write it down, and post it somewhere visible. You just might find yourself getting up and moving more often. Set up a family challenge and get everyone in your house involved! It can be as simple as creating a chart with each family members name. You get a sticker for every 30 minutes of exercise you do. At the end of the month, anyone with 20 stickers gets a reward. (Think non-food rewards to reinforce the healthy habits youre trying to establish.)

Theres Something I Forgot to Tell You After a week or two of care a new patient will often pull us aside. They go on to describe some aspect of their health that has improved. Only thing, its not what prompted them to originally see us for care.... This happens surprisingly often. They didnt mention their acid reflux, indigestion or some other condition during our initial visit. Thats understandable. Many people think of chiropractic as something that only helps spinal conditions. Those who see chiropractic as only a treatment for headaches and back pain overlook something more significant. Namely the role that chiropractic may play in whole body health. Heres how: 1. Your nervous system controls and regulates every cell, tissue and organ. 2. The nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord and all your nerves. 3. The most important parts of your nervous system are protected by bone. 4. The moving segments of your spinal column are vulnerable to misalignment. 5. Aberrant spinal biomechanics can affect nervous system communications. 6. Impaired nerve messages can produce problems peripheral to the spine. 7. As nervous system interferences are reduced, symptoms often resolve. Which raises an important question. When is a stomach problem a stomach problem? And when is a stomach problem actually a nerve communication problem between the brain and stomach? Its the brain that controls your stomach. Just as it controls your lungs, your knees and every other function of your body. It controls and regulates every bodily function via nerve messages sent over the spinal cord. Interference from the moving bones protecting these nerves could show up as a stomach problem. But the real problem is along the spinal column. Correct the spinal problem and the stomach problem often resolves. Does that make chiropractic a treatment for stomach problems? Of course not. The intent of chiropractic care is to restore proper function to a compromised nervous system. Instead of side effects the happy result is positive effects that many patients notice as their care progresses.

But poor posture leads to aches and pains, which can develop into chronic back, neck, shoulder and wrist injuries. You might not have an ergonomic workstation in your home. But we've got your back. Working or learning from home... doesn't have to be painful. And a setup that keeps you and your family pain-free doesn't have to be expensive. 5 simple ways to work in comfort and protect your spinal health. 1. Lift your laptop If you're using your laptop at the kitchen table, it might be positioned too low. Place a few books or a shoebox underneath it so you are looking directly at the screen. This is easy to adjust for your smaller family members and will stop you from leaning forward and bending your necks. 2. Raid the linen closet No cushy desk chair? No problem. Slip a thin cushion under your seat and a rolled-up towel behind your lower back. This lumbar support will help to prevent low back pain. 3. Stand up You don't need an expensive standing desk. A simple hack like placing a large cardboard box on your kitchen table can raise your laptop enough to be effective. Try to alternate between sitting and standing. We recommend standing while on calls or watching videos to get started. 4. Go wireless Wireless gadgets are affordable game-changers. A wireless headset can relieve the strain an extended cell phone call puts on your neck. Wireless keyboard & mouse combinations allow you to keep a comfortable typing position while elevating your screen as needed. 5. Stretch it out Make sure every family member takes time to move at least once an hour. Neck rolls, shoulder rolls, and gentle spinal twists will help keep you flexible. Finally, don't forget to take plenty of breaks. This is a stressful time, and it's important to give yourself the physical and mental space to stay healthy.
