A Good Night's Blessing: Good Night | : "" ! ... Lucky rain and auspicious snow foresee a promising new year. The Year of the Ox. Today is the second day of Lunar New Year, the open-year day. A difficult year has finally passed. Despite the downs and unwelcome experiences we have encountered in the past year, we are also rewarded with a pinch of sweetness. COVID has taught us to realize that giving loving-kindness and compassion to each other is a mutual benefit. It is cold tonight and we hope that by wishing you well and by offering you a blessing will warm your heart. We are grateful to the Buddha for his teachings and for the Devalokas for protecting the Buddha's teachings. We are also grateful to you for your ceaseless support. We wish you and your family good health, safety, and prosperity. Happy lunar new year See more

Reciting Avalokitesvara's name, purely and wholeheartedly | 2020114 (919) Nov. 4, 2020. Anniversary of Avalokitesvara's monastic ordination.... A quiet autumn night, with a cool breeze sweeping gently through the air, bringing our imagination to the tranquility as that attained by Avalokitesvara, and making us realize the honour and reverence we have for this Bodhisattva. In a year, we celebrate four anniversaries for the Buddha, namely on his birthday, his monastic ordination, his enlightenment, and his parinirvana. We celebrate only one anniversary for other Bodhisattvas on their birthdays, with the exception of Avalokitesvara of whom we celebrate three anniversaries, on his birthday, his monastic ordination, and his enlightenment. This shows how highly we regard Avalokitesvara. We hope that as you are offering prostrations to Avalokitesvara, you are also learning to practice the resolve exemplified by this Bodhisattva. Sunday Dharma Service: The Pure Land Jeweled Repentance | : 20201101 Nov. 01, 2020. 10 am - 12 pm.... As we practice the Pure Land teachings in repenting and in making vows, do we do so purely for the sake of sowing meritorious seeds for going to Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land in our next life? If we could repent simply for our wrongdoings and practice bodhicitta by make vows to benefit others, it is with this intention of purity alone that help us build a pure land for ourselves in our daily lives.

October Greeting in Wishing Everyone Safe and Well | Translation in context of the Chinese verse in the photo: Refrain from speaking of others, lowly or highly, wrongly or rightly; ... For, when we do so, in the end, it is we who will suffer consequently. If we can bury our tongues in our mouths, deeply, Then, such a way would rank first among all practices, unequivocally. - Tr. 2020 Ullambana Dharma Service | 2020 2020830-92 ... .. ... .. ... Aug. 30 - Sept. 2, 2020. The concept of filial piety, originated from the teachings of Confucianism, is considered a foundation of all virtues for the Chinese people, and has an unwavering strength in the core of the Chinese culture. When Buddhism arrived in China, it was confronting the biggest challenge in having its practice of shaving one’s head and leaving one’s home’ conflicting with Confucian’s teaching of Our body, including hair and skin, is given to us by our parents and we dare not harm it. In the passing of time, Buddhism did its part in advocating its idea of filial conduct, expounded majorly through the Ullambana Sutra and its related textual sources, Those who cultivate filial conduct should in thought after thought, constantly remember their present parents when making offerings, as well as parents of the seven past lives and relatives of six kinds Making offerings helps to nurture the generosity in ourselves. The Buddhist practice of filial conduct thus involves three cultivations, cultivation for virtue of filial piety and cultivation for virtue of generosity, consequently cultivation for eradicating greed in ourselves. The Buddhist idea of filial piety, in this way, not only harmonized with that of Confucian teaching but has stretched the concept to the ultimate. As the situation of COVID-19 becomes steadily under controlled, we are reopened to the public. We thank Sifu for leading the service, the sangha members and lay community for their unending support. We wish you and your families be safe, secure, well, and happy. See more

2020- The Annual Liang Repentance: "A Practice in Repentance of Kindness & Compassion" | : 2020629-75... June 29-July 5, 2020. We have closed our temple for more than 4 months now since the issue of social-distancing back in early March. Still we have not officially reopened to the public. We continued to hold our major Liang service as planned with all aspects of the 7-day ceremony delivered accordingly, properly, thoroughly, and joyfully to completion. This year's ceremony has been extraordinary as it has enlightened us to realize that we all live under the same sky. We ought to treat circumstances impartially that are brought to us by the pandemic, extending empathy to all without exception, thus repenting earnestly. Let's hope this can be a preliminary step that inspires us to become compassionate. Thank you Sifu. Thank you all resident monastics and everyone for your devoted support, aiding us ceaselessly. May we grow together in practice on the bodhi path. See more
2020 - Pre-Liang Repentance Ceremony: Dharma Offering | 2020628 , , , , , , , , ... June 28, 2020. A Dharma offering is a tribute to Buddha and a guidance in practice. In between his times of flying back and forth to MK Temple in Edmonton and YK Temple in Montreal, Sifu still found time to give us Dharma talks at CK Temple in Toronto. After almost 2 years, the discourse on Treatise to the Amitayurdhyana Sutra has completed. Sifu used 2 approaches, the Five-Part Analysis in Profound Meaning and Phrase-by-Phrase Elaboration with various other references to discuss the text in detail. Sifu advises us to learn as a foundation the core teachings of the Dharma as it will help us a great deal on the path of our practice. Thank you Sifu. We await the Dharma talk on the discourse of the next Sutra. See more
June Greeting in Being Reliable & Steadfast, Bear that in Mind Always | A translation in context of the Chinese verse in the photo: An ancient maxim states that... to be gentle and soft, powerful and forceful, the former triumphs over the latter; And that acting in this manner is the best means of accumulating good deeds. Should one ever hears about such advice, It would be like quenching one's thirst with a rare and precious nectar. - Tr. SL. Avalokitesvara of Great Compassion | 2020523 , , , , , , , , , ! May 23, 2020.... Dharma Service: The Great Compassionate Jeweled Repentance. Avalokitesvara's extraordinary compassion for sentient beings and his resolve to postpone his own Buddhahood until he has helped every sentient being on earth achieve liberation has made the Bodhisattva very popular and well-loved throughout the Buddhist world, especially Asian countries, with many of the admirers who may not necessarily be Buddhist followers. When we want to be spiritually in tune and in harmony with Avalokitesvara, we try to follow by practising the qualities that the Bodhisattva exemplifies. When we prostrate in front of Buddhist statues, we learn to be mindful that it is through the exterior representation of the statues that illumimates to us the underlying meaning of the prostration. Although there were only a few attendees and Sifu was not present at this service, it was still very praiseworthy. See more
