Thank you all for your support or interest in my previous posting . I am confident that , eventually, some young family will want to hone their crafts in the building , the same way that a 25 year old couple with 3 small children did starting a family business in Bridgewater back in 1981 . We are still open and as excited as ever to service you and your repair or footwear needs . 40 years and counting ..haha

After 40 years of service in the town of Bridgewater , we felt it was time to enter the next phase of our lives as semiretired leather workers . Unable to find anyone interested in taking over our repair business , we did find a fellow crafter \ instructor to purchase our property . To our shock the Town of Bridgewater refused to allow the sale . They will only allow us to sell as a shoe repair shop . Not only have we lost our lifelong investment in our trade but have also... been denied the sale of our only remaining investment at 287 King Street . The sad part is that there is no one from the town that even seems to care . Even when this all started ,I was reassured by the mayor that this was wrong and he was sure that the Town would make it right . That is not how it ended up at all . We did get a very minor breakthrough from the town last night where any and all interested buyers would have to go a lengthy development process before being considered . That means that for any potential buyer , a 6 to9 month wait before we or potential buyer would even know if they would be permitted to use our building . So 6 to 9 month wait for each individual prospective buyer of our property will keep us here for possibly years to come until we can no longer do our job . At that time we will have to walk away with nothing . I am sure that the Town will be far more open to making the sale of our property easier to occupy once they own it . Sorry for the rant but I am saddened and sickened by the way small independent family businesses get treated . It is just wrong . See more

All the quality that our customers have come to expect in a Red Wing product . Our size range is already being depleted in our first week of having this boot in stock . Still a fair selection left , with another order being placed today .

I'm getting my Mojo back . It's been months since I felt creative . I got to meet the dogs that came into our shop and requested these collars be designed for them . Good to know your clients . Personalized padded collars covered in black cowhide , topped with a premium oak tanned full length collar , with all solid brass hardware , right down to the rivets . These make me smile .

Took the time to rebuild my own boots this week . Eight years at least on these Redwing Heritage as a work boot , a motorcycle boot and a walking boot . Sure didnt baby them . Heres to another eight years if I can find someone then to do them again for me .

The demand in our area for RedWing work boots is out pacing the availability ! Toe capping them has become a daily procedure.

Just 4 days after receiving these Vasque hikers , we are almost sold out of them ! There are only 6 pair left in the showroom . 1 pair size 8 , 1 pair size 9 , 1 pair size 9.5 , 1 pair size 11.5 , 1 pair size 12 and 1 pair size 13 . They are all wide width and have gortex waterproof liners .

These low cut Vasque hikers that we have patiently been waiting for , arrived on Monday morning . Just getting around to posting them today as we have sold most of the inventory in just 18 shop hours !! It will be many months before we can restock these awesome hikers , as COVID 19 has affected production for the near future . There are a few pair of both mens and ladies left in wide width . I would like to thank all our customers for their patience while waiting for our shop to reopen . This has been and continues to be an unprecedented time for all of us . Being in our mid 60s with underlaying heath conditions , we have been watching the situation very carefully . We will be reopening as soon as our shop environment is safely set up to do so . Waiting with other small shops and services that are on lists to have plexiglass barriers installed . Supplied no...w with disinfective solutions ,wipes and masks . Reopening with start off with reduced hours until we can make sure that the proper measures are in place for both the protection of our customers and ourselves . To remain open we must all respect physical distancing where ever and when ever possible . Hopefully open on the first or second week of June . Will post when ready to give this a try .

Update for May 13 2020 First , we hope that all of you are managing this Covid 19 pandemic to the best of your abilities . It is very difficult for everyone . As for reopening our shop , we are waiting for clear guidelines from Health officials and our provincial government before serving the public again . It does not seem to be forthcoming in the very near future .... Our concern for the wellbeing of our customers as well as ourselves is more important to Odette and I than our financial situation . We would shut down our business before adding to risk of infection . We sincerely apologize to our customers that have personal items that they have not been able to get out of our shop since closing our doors . You will contacted when we are able to serve you again . We are in uncharted waters right now and we are as uncertain of the " new normal " as most of you are but we feel that staying closed is the right and responsible thing to do until instructed to do otherwise . Soooo looking forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible . Take care and please be kind and show respect for others . We will get through this together . Thank you .

First of all ..I hope that this finds you , all safe and healthy . Covid 19 has put most of us on pause , one way or another . Cobbler Corner will be remaining closed until the end of May . Longer , if the province and country require it . For those customers that have repaired goods on our shelves , we apologize . They are safe and will be returned to you when we reopen . Ok all my facebook friends that sew and my friends that want to try. Our hospital is going to need masks. I was asked today to make as many as I can possible make. I will do this because I want to and because it makes me feel like I am helping in a small way. And no I will not accept a red cent for this. So please. Lets do this together. I am sure all you sewers have lots of material laying around. I am making mine with three layers and reversible so the person wearing the masks knows which side was against the face.... I altered the pattern just a bit so that the elastic went around my head and not my ears as that becomes pretty uncomfortable after awhile. My sewing machine can beat up your sewing machine . Na na a na na

Had a customer bring this gorgeous pair of leather welted and leather soled dress shoes into our shop . They were brown ( should have taken the before photo but I didnt ). He was willing to allow me to take the time and care needed to strip all the dye from the shoes and start over to change them into a pair of black shoes . A full days work but the end result is justifiable for a pair of shoes of this quality .

Time for Cobbler Corner to test a pair of boots from our new line of WM. Moorby footwear from Canada West . I will showing these boots no mercy . Breaking in handcrafted leather boots is not one of my favourite things to do but there arent many ways around it , so here we go .

I had posted earlier about a pair of boots that were dog chewed and in need of serious repair . I wanted to repair them in a way that would not look like a patch job but rather a more natural extension of the original boot style . I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do , even though working with fur is not one of my better skills . Customer seems happy with end results and that is what really matters .

Well , we were not expecting to have to reorder these Moorby boots after just 48 hours in our shop ! More on the way . Ill post when they arrive .
