Today was full of fun Halloween activities! It was so much fun dressing up with the children, playing games, dancing and enjoying fun snacks!

Our neighbour shared with us some freshly grown acorn squash, so we cut some open to explore! Many comments and questions arose. It looks like a sunflower! The inside is like a pumpkin. Squishy and seeds!... Why is it green? See more

This morning was the perfect morning! Fresh fallen snow, and yummy hot chocolate with marshmallows!

Our 3’s explored the parts of a pumpkin today! We cut out the top and explored the seeds and insides. Then, the children used their hands to feel the seeds. The children talked about the smell of the pumpkin and the feeling of the seeds and insides. It smells like a pumpkin! These seeds are slimy... We then carved our pumpkin and named him Jack! We saved our seeds to roast later this week! Did you know the insides of a pumpkin is called Fibrous strands?

Yesterday, our friends created fall trees by using broccoli florets to stamp and paint! A different, fun way to do art, and a healthy snack (pre-painting)!

3....2....1..... BLAST OFF!!! It’s space week here at Colour My World and our little astronauts have been very interested in the planets and solar system! We are building rocket ships from giant cardboard boxes and painting them today!

Good morning families, Our road is quite slippery this morning and unfortunately doesn’t get plowed. Please be careful and go slow when turning off Westsyde Road onto Collingwood.... Alternatively, you can turn at the Westmount lights and get onto Collingwood that way. Drive safe and please send snow gear for your child. Thank you!

It sure got chilly!! There’s a chance it will snow tomorrow. Please send your child with a toque, gloves and a warm jacket daily!

I’m excited that our outdoor hand washing station has arrived! It’s portable, so it can go into either yard. Hand washing procedure visuals as well as small pec symbols have been added to assist young children in the steps of hand washing. We also have a hand washing song to sing while we wash! It’s ready to go for when children return on Tuesday!

This month, the children are learning all about themselves, their families, their homes and their friends! We’ve set up our 3 years program like a home. The children can enjoy a family style meal setting in the dramatic play area, accompanied by a family photo wall. We’ve brought in little wooden peg dolls in the doll house, hand painted to promote diversity and the unique differences every family has. ... It is hot out there today! Please make sure your little ones have hats, sun screen and lots of water! We had 30 minutes outside before we called it a day. Even ...with all of the sun protection, UV is at a 6! Stay safe out there! Watch yourself and others for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke!

I always find inspiration in the work that children do. I love watching their creativity soar. This morning I stood back and observed two children painting at the easel together. The conversation between them evolved into a learning experience for both of them! What happens when I mix colours?... Oh wow! Blue and yellow make green! It looks like fire! Mix and mix and mix, more paint! It’s so squishy in my hand. See more

Our 3’s went puddle jumping today! They found many puddles on their way to the park. At the park, the children created tissue paper apple sun catchers.

I am so excited to share with you our new back play yard! We’ve created a natural area, and it’s a bonus that our neighbour's plants are growing through the fence for extra greenery. I have been dreaming of this yard since before Colour My World was created and it’s finally here for the children to explore! We've created a dirt/mud area, and a multi-use gravel pit! It is currently set up as a construction area, but the possibilities are endless! River rocks for building, tr...ucks for digging and of course, hard hats for our hard workers!! The fence that the children painted now has a music wall made from kitchen items such as pots, strainers, stainless steel bowls, etc for the children to explore sound and get creative. We have a sensory wall on the other fence, which can easily be moved to the ground for a sensory walk experience! It includes different types of textures such as artificial grass, stones, cork, etc.

Our 4’s were busy today! They started their day with fall fine motor activities. Then, they ventured out on a leaf hunt, collecting leaves for their art! The children created leaf collages by cutting and pasting their leaves onto paper.
