The PYRAMID OF HATE: it shows biased behaviors, growing in complexity from the bottom to the top. Although the behaviors at each level negatively impact individuals and groups, as one moves up the pyramid, the behaviors have more life-threatening consequences. Like a pyramid, the upper levels are supported by the lower levels. If people or institutions treat behaviors on the lower levels as being acceptable or normal, it results in the behaviors at the next level becoming more accepted. In response to the questions of the world community about where the hate of genocide comes from, the Pyramid of Hate demonstrates that the hate of genocide is built upon the acceptance of behaviors described in the lower levels of the pyramid.
The Government of British Columbia first proclaimed the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in 1989 and is proud to reaffirm their commitment to a discrimination-free B.C. by proclaiming March 21 as the Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in B.C. WHAT YOU CAN DO- Take action. Consider your agency in contributing to a world without racism. Discuss the ways in which racism and privilege show up in your life, watch a short video and talk openly about how things change. Stand up against discrimination and mistreatment. Learn more about national efforts for reconciliation. Share your thoughts with us on social media (FB)

In honour of Black History Month, we had the opportunity to interview four influential Black figures who live in Victoria. Dr-Moussa Magassa ; Dr. Ireh Iyioha; Summer Okibe; and Dre Gutierrez Reyes Check them out on our website!... https://vihrc.com/black-history-month-2021 Our interviewer, Pamphinette Buisa, is herself a young Black athlete and a strong advocate for human rights and decolonization. We believe that Black History should be celebrated all year long and not just in the shortest month.
