In the spirit of #wellnesswednesday we wanted to share this awesome post from @joyoushealth about helping ease anxiety naturally! During these uncertain times taking care of yourself is crucial 1. Take a break. Get off social media. Multiple studies have found an increased risk of depression and anxiety with heavy social media use. Of course this comes down to your mindset and your perspective, but if you find it’s not bringing you joy, then take a break. 2. Get o...utside and hug a tree. Nature is a quick-fix for So Many Things! I know I must sound like a broken record, but the essential oils released by trees literally calm your nervous system down in a jiffy. Just touching the earth or a tree immediately grounds you to the earth. 3. Make a cup of tea. I’ve got 4 organic herbal teas for you to choose from! Kidding sort of. But seriously, the mindful act of infusing some loose leaf tea into hot water is an act of love for your body, mind and spirit. The next cup of tea you make, put down your phone, put away distraction and simply have a moment to yourself while you sip your tea. 4. Take 10 deep belly breaths. Science has proven that deep breathing takes you from sympathetic nervous system mode (freeze, fight or flight) to parasympathetic nervous system mode (rest and digest). The key is to breathe with awareness and count your breaths so you have an anchor to concentrate on. 5. Move your body! Whenever I feel a hit of worry or anxiety come over me I find that movement dispels that energy. Anxiety sometimes feels like this excess energy that needs to be channeled into something. Drop what you’re doing and lunge around your living room, or turn on some music and dance! 6. Put a 1/2 tsp of maca in your latte or smoothie. Maca is an adaptogen, meaning it contains plant compounds that strengthen, balance and help your body better respond to stress + anxiety. It does this by nourishing your pituitary, adrenals and hypothalamus - glands that get beat up from chronic stress & anxiety. Maca is not a magic pill however. It works slowly over time. For this #wellnesswednesday post we wanted to share some very sound advice from Naturopathic doctor @rachels_nd! Of course it’s always best to get vitamins from healthy food sources (like say, ours ) but when life gets stressful (who’s stressed? ) it can be important to supplement for extra body love Let’s chat about #supplements. How many times I’ve heard people say, I took vitamins and I didn’t notice anything different. To put it simply, it’s about quality.... Here’s a laundry list of things to consider: B-vitamins. Don’t bother w products that are low dose. 5mg really won’t do much. Ideally we want 50mg for majority of the #bvitamins. These are VERY important when stressed. Make sure your #folicacid is the #folate form, and is about 1 mg. Folate (MTHF) is the active form, and best absorbed. B12. Go for methylcobalamin. 1000mcg is ideal. Very important for plant-based eaters! Iron. I usually go w bisglycinate. Be careful of OTC iron that wreak havoc on your digestive system. #Iron should be in a capsule w folate, b12 and vtm C to maximize absorption. #VitaminC. You can only absorb so much C at a time. Go for a lower dose and divide the doses thru the day. One big 1000mg tablet results in expensive pee. #VitaminD. Aim for 1000iu daily. Ideally a liquid drop. Very important in the winter when we don’t get out as much Multi-vitamins. Not my usual recommendation. A bit of everything and not much of anything. My go-to is a high quality #prenatal. All women can really take this. For kids, a multi tends to be a vehicle for sugar, and the nutrient content is so low. I prefer a powered green food. Or stick w individual nutrients for kids instead ie. D, C, fish oil, magnesium. I prefer capsules and liquids/powders to hard tablets. They’re hard to breakdown in the tummy and likely just get pooped out! See more

It’s getting cold outside, and in our opinion there’s no better way to warm up than by firing up the oven and baking some delicious treats like these Vegan Banana Blueberry Muffins from @thenaturalblonde! Lightly sweetened and filled with nutrient-dense ingredients, they’re the perfect quick breakfast or snack to enjoy on a chilly November day! Enjoy! 1 cups gluten-free oat flour cup almond meal tsp. baking soda tsp. fine sea salt... 1 cup thoroughly mashed banana (about 2 large ripe, speckled bananas) cup coconut oil, melted and cooled cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (at room temperature) 2 Tbps. pure maple syrup 3 Tbsp. unsweetened applesauce (preferably organic) 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract cups blueberries (I used frozen wild they’re smaller and higher in antioxidants!) Pre heat oven to 350 and grease a muffin tin (I prefer this to using liners as there’s no waste and you don’t lose any muffin peeling them off!) Mix all dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. In a large bowl, mix together the banana, coconut oil, maple syrup, applesauce and vanilla until thorough combined. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined, then stir in the blueberries. Let the mix standard for 10-15 mins. to some of the moisture from the berries is absorbed (this makes for a non-soggy muffin!). Fill each muffin cavity about half full, then bake in the oven for 15-20 mins. or until edges start to brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing. Enjoy! I keep these in the fridge for a week and usually freeze half since they make quite a few (unless the rest of the family will eat them, too!).

It’s Friday! Which means the weekend is upon us, and with that dreams of delicious brunch (then again, we’ve always got food on the brain!). To inspire your taste buds we’re bringing you this amazing fluffy Vegan Buttermilk Pancake recipe from @itslivb! So simple, so delicious, and (since it’s still covid!) so perfect for your at-home weekend brunching needs! Enjoy! Fluffy Vegan Buttermilk Pancakes 1 cup non-dairy milk of choice 1 tsp apple cider vinegar... 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 2 tbsp sugar pinch of salt 1 tbsp oil 1. Combine the milk, and apple cider vinegar, stirring well. Set aside. 2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. 3. Add the oil to the milk mixture and stir. Then pour into dry mixture. 4. Mix until JUST combined. Lumps are okay! Do not over-mix. 5. Heat a frying pan to medium heat. Spray oil lightly onto pan. 6. Using scoop batter into round pancake shapes, leaving some room for spreading. I usually do 2 at a time. BE PATIENT! Let it cook until bubbles rise to the surface then burst, and the edges start to look cooked. Take a peak underneath and if it is golden, flip to the other side. Cook about 30 seconds-1 minute on the other side (the second side takes much less time to cook). Serve with vegan butter and maple syrup! See more
