Five years. It started with a wedding. One of the happiest days of my life. Fast forward to just after Christmas that year, only months following our wedding, w...e found out that my mom had stage 4 colon cancer. Six months later she passed away. Only a month and a half following her passing, I became pregnant with my son and from there learned to navigate motherhood without my mother, all while grieving a tremendous loss. A move to a new house. Another pregnancy, this time with my daughter. A long, rough pregnancy that nearly broke me. A hospital stay with her at just one month old. A global pandemic to come home to. And on top of all of that, a massive amount of spiritual and personal growth amongst all the beauty and chaos that has been the past 5 years. As I look back, I’m not the person I was 5 years ago. I have changed. Evolved. I’ve learned not to take anything for granted and that life can change on the turn of a dime. Our time on this beautiful earth is short. It’s delicate. Treat it as such. Tell your people you love them and love them hard. Do more of the things you want to do and start saying no to the things you really don’t want to do. Learn to forgive and release grudges or judgements. Step out of your comfort zone. Bless the things that break you down. That’s when the real magic happens. That’s when you become who you were meant to be. I wish my mother was still here with us. I miss her everyday. I still grieve for her. However, I choose to see all the good that has come following her passing and the path ahead that she’s helping me pave. I am grateful for the lessons I’ve learned and for having been brought back home to myself. It’s crazy to look back and see how much has transpired and shifted over the course of 5 years. It really puts things into perspective and makes you realize how fast the time really goes and how much can happen in such a short time period. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
