Cornerstone Preschool Screening Questions Update - October 1st, 2020 Hope you all are all keeping safe and healthy, We were just informed this evening by the City of Hamilton, that The Ministry of Health has updated the symptoms list and language on school & Daycare screening. We have now been asked by the region, to follow the new guidelines. For students and children, the screening tool will now have two sets of questions about symptoms that may yield different next ste...ps depending on which symptoms are selected. Dear Families, Hope you all are keeping healthy and safe, Here are the latest guidelines provided to us by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the Region of Hamilton:... Pre-screening by all parents should now take place daily prior to arrival at the childcare center using the online provincial screening tool. All parents are instructed to follow the most up- to-date Ministry of Health screening tool found here (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/). Onsite screening will only take place where it is operationally feasible and if necessary (e.g. screen was not completed prior to arrival). All parents/caregivers should complete the provincial COVID-19 school and childcare screening tool as a Parent/guardian on behalf of a student/child prior to arrival at the childcare center. Entry will be denied to any individual who fails the screening procedure whether it was completed online or in person. Parents are not required any proof of screening done at home. We are basing it on honor system and will go by your word. Also attached is a decision making tool provided by the City of Hamilton, which can help families in making the decision to take children to daycare or not. I would also like to acknowledge your sustained commitment to the health and well-being of Ontario families. The Province has announced that childcares can open from June 12th, 2020, however we are waiting to hear specific guidelines and timelines from the City of Hamilton. We anticipate that when childcares in Hamilton begin to re-open, it will be done gradually, and additional safety precautions will be put in place. The purpose of this surve...y is to understand your childcare needs during this re-opening phase. While we will do our best to accommodate childcare needs, we know that the capacity of the childcare systems will be limited, and it will be difficult to guarantee a space for all children at this time. COVID 19 Update June 9th, 2020 Earlier today, the province announced that licensed childcare centres may begin to reopen on Friday, June 12, 2020. All centres will be required to meet additional requirements to safely reopen including enhanced cleaning, mandatory screening of staff and children, limitations on non-essential visitors, and ensuring there is a COVID-19 response plan in place. Restrictions on the size of groups will be limited to 10 individuals per room, includ...ing both staff and children. The City of Hamilton is working very hard and closely with City of Hamilton’s Public Health colleagues towards a reopening date for the childcare system that is safe and feasible for our community, ensuring that all centres are ready and feel supported to safely reopen. Childcare centres will not open in Hamilton on June 12 and not all centres will reopen on the same date. For now, we are not sure of the exact date Cornerstone Preschool will open, and we are waiting to hear from the Ministry of Education and Region of Hamilton. We will be getting more information in the coming days. Our priority is to provide high quality childcare in a safe environment for children, and to limit the risk of exposure to children, staff and the community. COVID 19 Update April 2nd, 2020 The Province of Ontario recently announced that all licensed childcare center will remain closed until April 13, according to the declaration of Emergency which only allows closures to be extended for one 14-day period at a time. In addition, the Province of Ontario announced today that all public schools will remain closed to teachers until May 1 and to students until May 4. As these dates come closer, the decision will be re-evaluated by th...e Province based on public health advice and the closure may be extended if necessary.
