God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile. Max Lucado I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

S P I R I T U A L I T Y Overcoming Evil Through Prayer Some Guidelines The Bible shows us clearly that we are engaged in a battle that is taking place in the... spiritual realm. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (NKJV). We are engaged in this battle because we’ve been enlisted as soldiers in God’s army. God has given us an armour and weapons that are suitable for this warfare. Prayer is a mighty weapon He has given to the church. If we learn how to use it skilfully, we will experience great results, appropriating the victory Christ has won for us. https://testimony.paoc.org/a/overcoming-evil-through-prayer See more

Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. Proverbs 16:32, NLT Patience and self-control are important, godly characteristics to have, but are often not considered to be as valuable as they are. Imagine though, how transforming it could be if people all started to exhibit those qualities on a daily basis in all areas of life. People would be kinder, and situations would be better if we lived in this way. The good news, however, is that these qualities or "fruit" (see Galatians 5:22-25) can be abundantly produced in your life by yielding to Christ daily and walking in step with His Spirit.

We ask him to strengthen you by his glorious might with all the power you need to patiently endure everything with joy. Colossians 1:11 (GWT) There are seasons of life when we face challenging issues or problems. Things are never perfect. You may be tempted to give up, or get discouraged, but know that His plans for you are good. Trust His power through all your life seasons.

So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT) These are difficult and uncertain times for sure. But Jesus tells us not to worry about life’s necessities specifically food, drink, and clothes. When you honour God above all else and make Him your first priority, you can rest each day in His promise to provide for all your needs!

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:3, NLT) We have been called and drawn to God by His own glory and goodness. And having called us, Christ by His divine power gives us everything we need to walk according to His calling. His love and His calling are always backed by His power! Further, we have the promise of Romans 8:28: "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Remember... you have everything you need right now to live the life that God has called you to live!

We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you. (Psalm 33:20-22) God is our help and our shield. He gives us hope in Jesus Christ who loves us and gave himself for us. The Lord of glory is ever watching over us and working things for our good when we love him above all else and offer ourselves in sacrifice to him. His unfailing love has been and is being perfected in us as we allow his Spirit to work in our hearts and transform us into his glorious image.

When we yearn for our Creator "as the deer pants for the water" (Ps. 42:1), when we learn to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30) then holiness will be the by-product of our passion. We cease from sin, not just because we are disciplined, but because we have found something better. Gary Thomas (Seeking the Face of God)

One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. (Psalm 27:4, NKJV) In his worship, David not only sought the Lord and gazed upon His glory, but also praised Him in song. He brought the sacrifice of praise to the Lord, a privilege we have as the priests of God. How easy it is to plead with the Lord in the midst of battle and then forget... to praise Him after He has given us victory. Victories on the battlefield are won in the prayer closet. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit is as much a part of spiritual victory as putting on the armor and using the sword. Without satisfying worship, there can be no successful warfare. How did David know that God was a light, a deliverer, and a fortress? He learned it while gazing on God's glory in his time of worship and meditation. David envied the priests who were privileged to dwell close to God's house and even enter the courts and the holy place. Perhaps the priests envied David for his exploits and travels, but how David longed to leave the battlefield and dwell in God's house! But wherever he was he took time to come into God's presence, meditate on God's gracious kindness, and contemplate the person of God. Warren Wiersbe

I press on today not because of how I feel but because of who I know.

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him. (Romans 8:28) This Scripture verse is so often quoted, but the depth of its meaning is rarely fully grasped. All things are under God's divine control. Trouble is neither above nor beyond His control. It is not independent of God. No matter from what source trouble springs or from where it arises, God is sufficiently wise and able to lay His hand upon it and work it into His plans and purposes concerning the highest welfare of His people. Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrew 10:22, ESV) My crimson guilt is washed away; My Saviour’s wounds atone; And by the new and living way... I now approached the Throne. See more
