Creating Connection Canada 26.01.2021

Join Cathy Wild for this on-line art class featuring guided watercolour techniques, this week painting a couple Christmas cards. Bring your curiosity to this meaningful activity that includes a mixture of stimulation, reflection, thought provocation, peaceful calm, relaxation and mindfulness. Though the instructions in this class are based on watercolor techniques, feel free to use whatever tools you have in your art bag (crayon, lead pencils, colored pencil crayons, charcoal..., marker, etc.) Your guide will be Cathy Wild, formerly a resident of Barrie, ON (now living on the East Coast), who began painting as therapy in April 2016 after her own journey of self discovery after brain surgery. Some of her art has been on display at The Edge Gallery and at The Barrie Art Club. Cathy is excited to volunteer her time in helping others paint while continuing her own recovery. May you find yourself inspired by the giftedness that emerges through your creations. MATERIALS: Regular paper, craft paper, or sketch paper for pencils and pencil crayons. Watercolor paper for watercolors, preferably 140 lb. This can be Canson’s from Walmart or wherever you are able to order or pick up supplies. Pencil, painters tape, backer board (to tape art paper/canvas to), paper towel, brushes Curry’s #0, #3 & #6 (1 large, 1 medium, 1 small), water dish (for rinsing brushes), 2nd water dish, paper towel. COLOURS: Yellow(Ochre), Blue, Orange, Red, Green and Black. ALSO: extra green tape, with jagged edges, as shown, randomly placed on the one half. NOTES: Please see the image attached to prepare for today's class. You can choose to make two separate cards, or paint both on one 6x9" page with a fold in the middle. All levels of skill and experience are welcome.

Giving Tuesday is here! Celebrate & Support Creating Connection MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE - http://donations.creatingconnection.ca Today is #GivingTuesdayCA, a global day of giving back to the causes, charities and organizations you care about. Across Canada and around the world, GivingTuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another. Whether you’re a business, charity or an individual, you can make a difference and even a very small act o...f kindness goes a long way. Creating Connection Canada lives out its mission through sharing and upholding nine guiding principles that transcend fixed rules and conventions. By creatively discerning how these core values apply in our lives, we are better able to graciously and intentionally participate with one another in community. What better way to live life meaningfully together than when we get behind the values and principles at the core of humanity than to support organizations that invite everyone into an open and accepting community, free from judgement or guilt. That is life-transforming & life-giving inclusiveness that affirms the worth and value of all persons, regardless of background, beliefs, tradition, culture or religion. Your donation to Creating Connection Canada empowers that kind of change! Through authentic conversation, meaningful activities, holistic wellness practices and Connection-in-Action events, diverse and welcoming communities are formed, life takes on new meaning & purpose, and wholeness begins to be restored to an otherwise broken world. Today we ask you to remember that no act of kindness however small, is ever wasted. We encourage you to use this day to do something positive, help make a difference in your community, and be a blessing of love and peace. MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE - http://donations.creatingconnection.ca Other Ways to Support Our Campaign Like, share, and comment on our Facebook & Instagram posts throughout the day to ensure others are seeing our content. On this day that George Floyd is laid to rest, Creating Connection fully affirms its sponsoring organization's (Community of Christ) statement acknowledging that "it is has been a difficult [couple of] week[s]. [That] we continue to face racial justice in our country." And that we stand with all those who have exercised their "right to speak in the public square." As people on a faith/spiritual journey, "we have the responsibility to speak when we see injustice. Silence is c...omplicit with perpetuating injustice, [for] our voices name injustice and expose unnecessary suffering. This is an important first step toward cultivating the seeds of change." Our enduring principles and core values "speak clearly on the Worth of All Persons and Making Responsible Choices, [and so] we must continually examine our prejudices through study and spiritual practice. This equips us to engage in constructive dialogue and creative, non-violent actions to bring change." "Our commitment to addressing racial injustice must not fade with media coverage or languish in partisan political divide as we move to the next crisis... In these uncertain and troubling times, let us remember we are engaged in divine purpose. We will find hope, strength, and resolve as we journey together."
