Sometimes we travel on our journeys through life with what we believe as always going uphill. Always a struggle to succeed. Trying to make that childhood dream come true. Very few of us get to say I created that dream and made a difference in my life and in the lives of others we’ve touched. CrocTalk was my dream and created with my partner Brenda Bruce until, that dream was taken away we taught ‘children of all ages’ about conservation and respecting animals. All animals ...large and small. To Never Give Up on the things you Love. To Never Give Up on your Dreams. Well CrocTalk was taken away from Brenda and myself in June 2015. Life as we knew it changed for both of us and our animals and all those who loved our programs internationally and locally. We had to ‘let go’ and learn to adapt to change. Shrek said Change is Good Donkey! Darwin said It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. Just like our Crocodilians at CrocTalk we both adapted to change but always knowing in my heart to Never Give Up and CrocTalk will return one day as I promised all of our children, students, families and supporters.... well, that time has come. After all our struggles, changing and determination to succeed to make a difference in our community through CrocTalks educational programs and sharing our strengths and weaknesses on this journey but Never Giving Up. The CrocTalk Train is about to leave the station again so get onboard and join us for our first destination after 41/2 years of change......I’m very proud to announce our sponsorship with BCSS Kelowna - Mental Health Individual & Family Support . An incredible organization of dedicated qualified facilitators who are making a difference in our families including individuals. Come and support BCSS and bring your Kans & Kids for photos with a prehistoric croc and the infamous Chopper One and Chopper Two, Rosie and Bob, Gizmo the 12 foot Alligator and more! Details below! CrocTalk has been quietly resting and recovering from its closing in June 2015, but there’s always something good that comes out from something not so good. I really believe that my strength to Never Give Up came from all your energy and strength and Believing in CrocTalk and all of our animals and how children (of all ages) found so much joy. Nevertheless the pain and anxieties, from closing, that plagued me were tremendously difficult to live with but also led me down a new... path or journey one might say. Brenda also has been challenged with her own darknesses from our closing and stresses associated with and she too has become more enlightened, informed and an educated ‘student of doing something very difficult’ here in Kelowna. For example, a first of its kind in Canada, recognized exotic ‘prohibited animal’ facility legally licensed by the City and government levels regional and provincial, all because of Brenda’s hard work and dedication to my dream. Not hers. A very selfless commitment. The hardest thing we have ever done was to say goodbye to our Crocodilians including the McGator Family, our study and research programs, children’s programs, hotels and resorts, parades, daycares, schools, universities and all the wonderful families, students and international guests that came to visit this registered non profit, CrocTalk Zoo Society. This needs to be said....Thank You all for your support, kindness and patience from the bottom of our hearts.... With this being said, I believe that CrocTalk will be awakening to support an incredible community service on September 8th. I’ll be posting a poster of this event and I hope you’ll be able to attend our BBQ & BOTTLE DRIVE FUNDRAISING EVENT with some CHOP-CHOP SURPRISES! Please stay tuned! Remember our infamous CrocTalkoliscous Smilie Goodness and let’s make this fundraiser an incredible success and have a great time doing it! More info coming real soon but in the meantime please save or collect bottles to donate for us. For the first time since our closing 4 years ago I’m excited and feeling blessed to be apart of our Wonderful Kelowna/Okanagan Community yet again! See more
