Helloooo!! I hope this finds you well wherever you are and with whatever yarn you are knitting or crocheting. It seems like I haven’t had many colourways to post recently, which, compared to this time over the last few years is true, but I have been slowly dyeing custom orders and whatever other colours tickle my fancy. I definitely missed the interpersonal connections, chatting and general amazing day that would have been the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Fair this past weeke...nd, but such is this strange year, no? Fingers crossed for seeing you next year! In the meantime I do have a few additions to the Crooked Kitchen (reading across): Dammit Granite, Back Deck, Cast Iron, Oink Ponk, Cobwebs and Dust, Sunspot Baby and Nanny’s Linen as well as a few others not pictured. Thank you for your support ~ I really do appreciate you and enjoy my virtual chats with those of you who reach out Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, sane, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade #lovetheyarnyourewith See more

Wow! What a weekend! I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing long Labour Day weekend. Beth Chamberlin and I spent it with my mom and her partner on his sailboat. We left Midland Friday evening with our kayaks on board, in the hopes of finding some sweet paddling spots. Georgian Bay did not disappoint! We spent Saturday and Sunday around Beausoleil Island National Park, accomplishing about 20kms of paddling. The countless rock outcroppings and islands were fascinating, the wa...ter was gorgeous (and perfect for a couple refreshing swims), the moonrises were incredible, the weather was kind and then turned just enough for an exciting sail home (see next post for a little taste). I included a short vid of the galley stove self-levelling in the next post, too - I had no clue they do that, not being any kind of sailor whatsoever - it is very cool! To cap things off, much knitting was done, too - my mom finished a sweater (brag pics to come), Beth finished a second sock, so had a fresh pair to wear and I got in many stitches (no FO’s tho). Have a wonderful week. Stay safe and knit hard #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard See more

Another Monday I am counting down the days to mid-next week, when we head out for a little vacation at the lake (helllooooo kayak!) I hope this finds you well wherever you are and with whatever yarn you are knitting or crocheting. I have been filling a fair amount of custom requests, but also dyed a few batches of Hellebore (pictured first), as well as some Caramel Mochaccino, Nightswimming and (yowza!) Sprung. Happily for me these past couple weeks I think I got my knitting groove back, working on a new sweater and making great progress ~ finally! I hope the same goes for you, thank you Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade #lovetheyarnyourewith

Happy Tuesday afternoon to you - I hope this finds you well wherever you are and happy with whatever yarn you are knitting or crocheting! I didn’t dye a lot this weekend but I made a few additions to the Crooked Kitchen, including (reading clockwise): Raspberry Beret, Pheasant Plucker, Sophrosyne and some silk scarves (is it wrong that I seriously considered keeping the Here There Be Dragons one for myself? ) Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibre...ful, socially-distant week! . . . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade See more

It’s a lovely Monday evening and I’m about to go out for a walk with my super-fuzzy canine buddy. He’s a grooming scheduled for Thursday and it can’t come soon enough - he looks like a teddy bear. Our heat wave has abated and I must say that yesterday was one of the nicest days we’ve had so far this summer; it was a stunner, comfortable and breezy and made even better by an awesome kayak ride. I hope you had a good weekend, too! I have been dyeing a fair amount, some custom r...equests and the rest just whatever I’m in the mood for on the day - some of the recent additions to the Crooked Kitchen include (reading across): Just Escarole With It, Mischievous Grin, Seasoned (on Meriyak mmmmmm), Pheasant Plucker, Nanny’s Linen, Fishgold, Nightswimming and Back Deck Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade See more

For those of us in more northerly climes there are usually a couple of days each winter that are so cold the weatherperson likes to demonstrate by throwing a cup of hot water into the air, which instantly explodes into ice crystals. Well, it’s the opposite here today It’s so freakin’ hot out my yarn exploded a little poof of steam and is instantaneously dry! Stay cool Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week-end! . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade

Monday is drawing to a beautiful, bright, breezy close and I hope you are well and safe, wherever you are. We had a cool but sunny weekend in my area, and it was thoroughly enjoyable as the bugs seem to be keeping away - at least for now... Not a lot of additions to the Crooked Kitchen but I did get a little dyeing done. Listed recently: Grace, Too + Charred + Mischievous Grin. I recently got a new light box and I a trying to update any pictures of difficult colourways - Grace, Too is definitely on that list! It’s so complex and I realise now that my previous pictures weren’t the greatest. Constantly improving is the way forward, no? Thank you all Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade

Good morning! I hope you are well and safe, wherever you are. I find it hard to believe we are almost halfway through June Summer is finally upon us, which means heat and humidity where I am - thank goodness for ice cream, air-conditioning and small knitting projects in the evenings ~ Not a lot of additions to the Crooked Kitchen these last couple of weeks, but I did get a little dyeing done. Listed recently (spiralling in): Cobwebs and Dust [a bit more mottled and heavier on the purple than previous batches, but I like them and will be using this improved recipe moving forward], Hellebore and Cosmic Sound Machine (Low Volume) in the middle Thank you all, be well Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade

I hope you all had a lovely weekend - especially for my American friends celebrating Memorial Day. I actually managed to get a lot accomplished ~ things that were nagging to be done for a while: taxes and moving my daughter into her new bedroom (which involves a complete paint overhaul of two bedrooms) Phew! On top of that I put some newbies into the Crooked Kitchen. Clockwise from top L: Susurrus, Whole Grain, Maple Buds, a camera-shattering eye-searing holyshitthat’sb...right Kenspeckle pink/red combo (mohair is the best for rescuing dye when recipes are *ahem* misread ), Chinook, Silverbirchenstick, Sundog and a lovely batch of Up to No Good. Some of them are listed on multiple bases in the shop. Surprise surprise, we went from a horrible, cold, rainy spring, complete with snow in early May to full-on HOT Welcome, summer! Thank you all, be well Knit hard my yarny peeps and have a safe, healthy, fibreful, socially-distant week! . . #crookedkitchenyarn #knithard #handmade See more
