Children's Grief Awareness Day is designed to help us all become more aware of the unique needs of grieving children, and the benefits they obtain through the support of others. Children's Grief Awareness Day is an opportunity to make sure that grieving children receive the support they deserve. Many people don't realize that it takes children much longer to process their grief than expected, and the amount of inner turmoil is much more intense that we have any idea of. Grief... in children and teens is also unique, as they will encounter many milestones as they grow, triggering a process of regrief each time. What a death means to a child at age 8, looks different than when they regrieve at age 17. Robin Craig was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Known to be a man of integrity, honesty and diplomacy, ‘Grandpa Bird’ and Valerie, his wife of 23 years, shared passions of camping, hiking, riding motorcycles and entertaining friends. Robin truly enjoyed working for 29 years with CDC Construction Ltd. and was looking forward to his well-earned retirement before cancer took his life in October 2018. Gone but not forgotten, t...he Robin Craig Memorial Ride was established to raise funds in support of the Crossroads Hospice Society. Chris Holman, one of CDC’s Principals and a fellow avid motorcyclist, led family, friends and colleagues on a ride to Kelowna. The event was a huge success with over $12,000 being raised in Robin’s memory. We are at a loss for words to describe how grateful we are to Robin’s family, friends and CDC Construction family. We are honoured to witness Robin’s legacy that lives on.
