When we first bought this little house in 2017, my plan was to have a little cottage close by for our famlly to run away to. For me, selfishly.. I thought I'd use it as an extra home office. I'd work in the am, and then head off to play at the beach for a couple of hours. You know.. the best of both worlds. We ended up furnishing both units, and the next thing you know we were Airbnb'ing them. Always full. Every year. This year, we changed direction. When the wind shifts.. we...ll, sometimes you have to as well. I decided to turn "Maddie on the Main" to a long term rental, and we've now got a fantastic quiet tenant in it. My next decision.. What to do with "Owlies Nest"? Our upstairs apt. Which is really really my favourite of the two. It's so freaking cute. Do I rent that out long term? Keep it for ourselves? Airbnb it? The last few weeks since I've been back home.. I've been working in the morning, and if I don't have appts in the afternoon.. well... we've been grabbing the beach towels and running to Crystal Beach to go swimming. Turns out that Lake Erie is absolutely my most favourite water around here. The beaches are beautiful. The breezes good. And the water is absolutely fantastic. Crystal Beach.. well, the vibe of the town is just really really fun. The restaurants are all following protocol and serving up fantastic food. The streets are filled with sand, and well wishes and happy graffiti. Everyone's relaxed, everyone's mellow, and you feel like you're on vacation. Even when you're not. So.. the great thing about decisions and choices. You get to change your mind. As I was standing in the lake yesterday enjoying the water and waves.. and the laughter.. I knew what my decision was. I realized how lucky we are to have this little spot, and I got to thinking about how so many guests have enjoyed Little Yellow House on Derby - Vacation Cottage Crystal Beach over the last 3 years. Some coming from an hour away.. some coming from other countries. And I knew it would be a shame if it just wasn't available any more. And I knew it would really really be a shame if I had no where to go swimming on warm summer days lol. So. I went home and told Frank. He shook his head, smiled, and opened a beer. Moving forward.. I've decided to re-open the upper apartment to Airbnb. It deserves to be shared. Get in touch with me if you want to book up a few days. In order to keep everyone safe, I've got a 3 day minimum booking with 3 days in between each. oh.. and ps.. We'll be open all year 'round in case you want to tuck away quiet somewhere in the winter. We've designed it to feel cozy, like a nice warm blanket on a cold night. With a minimum of only 2 nights (and yes...we will let you stay longer if there's availability), this is perfect for those just needing to get away for a few nights. Good news! You asked and we listened! This year we've decided to open up BOTH suites for all your holiday stays. Maddie on the Main... will be running from June to Sept.
