Good news! The Campbell Valley Regional Park Management Plan was approved in November 2020. The plan will guide decisions on resource management, park improvements, and programming over the next 20 years. The engagement feedback on the draft management plan informed adjustments to the management plan including:... - additional strategies to separate cyclists and equestrians where possible; and - reconfiguring trails in the south of the park to retain the equestrian water splash feature. http://www.metrovancouver.org//campbell/Pages/default.aspx See more

Our 2021 calendar is now posted on our website. We should be able to run the dressage shows and cross country schooling days with our COVID-19 protocols in place even if restrictions are the same as last summer but here's hoping that by August we will be able to hold Campbell Valley Horse Trials again.

The main hog fuel ring and the sand ring have been closed for the winter now. They are just too soggy to use without creating deep spots. We have left the warm-up area of the hog fuel open for now and will monitor to see how it holds up.

BC Lower Mainland Regional Pony Club has rented the hog fuel ring for a dressage clinic tomorrow. The ring will be closed from 4:00 pm today for set-up until about 4 Pm tomorrow Saturday, Oct 23. The round pen will also be closed.

Campbell Valley Equestrian Society 24.09.2020

Reminder that the rings will be closed from about 4 pm tomorrow (Friday Sep 25) until 2 pm Sunday for our Almost an Event 2. The Shaggy Mane Trail will also be closed going up the hill during the competition from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Saturday and from 8:30 am to 2 pm Sunday. You can still go around the park by using the trail that runs parallel in the trees and joins at the top of the hill. And although we usually love to have spectators, in order to keep the numbers of people small, we ask that those not involved in the competition stay away from the west side of the red barn (except for the toilets and mounting block if needed). It was lovely there this evening. let's hope the weather stays good through the weekend!

The change of date of the Almost an Event 2 has resulted in a few spots opening up for Sep 26/27. This is an ideal 'event' for those wanting to try eventing out since the cross country portion is under the guidance of your coach. for more information, please check out our website or contact us. We need to get the entries in by tomorrow night though so that we have time to schedule. We will also likely have room for a few more Dressage tests.

Campbell Valley Equestrian Society 06.09.2020

Update: Due to the smoky conditions, we are having to postpone our Almost an Event 2 scheduled for this weekend to the following weekend, Sep 26/27. So the rings will be open this weekend as usual and it will be next weekend that we will have to close them from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Anyone who was already entered please contact the entry secretary by Saturday Sep 19 at 4 pm to hold your spot. We will also take some new entries in case not all can make it with the new date.

Campbell Valley Equestrian Society 26.08.2020

We are planning on closing all of the rings from 3:00 pm Friday until 4:00 pm Sunday for our Almost an Event 2 on Sept 19/20. The hill on the Shaggy Mane Trail from the barn to the top of the hill will also be closed on Saturday and Sunday. You can still ride the park loop by taking the trail through the trees to the top of the hill.

The Almost an Event 2 on Sep 19/20 is now full. Thanks for your support! We will Wait List any further entries in case there are any scratches. We are very happy to be able to offer something close to an event in these strange times. We are hoping that next year we can get back to a full-on recognized horse trials with camping but if not, at least we have a format now that we can continue going forward.

Today, the first Saturday of the month, is Driving Day from noon to 4 pm. Drivers may share the hog fuel ring. Also, the first Driving Games day in many years held on Aug 22 looked like lots of fun and was a great success! The Driving Games Day was put on by BC Carriage Driving Society Fraser Valley Chapter and competitors included Icelandic, Gypsy Vanner, Norwegian Fjord breeds along with several Minis (VSEs) and maybe a Morgan (and I might be forgetting some). Drivers had to navigate through various courses of tightly spaced pairs of cones as quickly as possible without knocking the balls off the top of the cones.

Entries are open for our Sep 19/20 Almost an Event 2. Dressage and Stadium show on Saturday; timed and scored cross country schooling over courses on Sunday - one horse at a time under the supervision of your insured coach. Scores combined in StartBox to give the feel of a real event. This low pressure 'event' is perfect for those wanting to give eventing a try. HCBC membership required. More information and entry forms on our website. www.cves.ca

The little ditch in the trees is closed until we can get it repaired.

Did anyone pick up my silver Yeti coffee mug at the XC schooling day last weekend? It may have fallen off the back of the CVES truck...

Tomorrow is Driving Games day from about 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. They will park in the upper parking area only and will be using the flatish area of the cross country field from 208th over to the lower (south) water jump. So the east side of the field, away from the Shaggy Mane trail. Sounds like fun!

Thanks to everyone involved in making our Almost an Event a success! This includes riders, volunteers, officials and other park users too. Norma took lots photos both days and if you contact her with your ride times, she will send you what she has for that time frame. Email is [email protected] . If you see any that you like, donations to CVES will be gratefully accepted either by e-transfer to [email protected] or on our website where, if it is over $20, you will get a tax receipt.

And just like that the first 2 phases (Dressage and Stadium) of our Almost an Event are done and anyone in the park after 4:00 pm would have said, "What event?" Thanks everyone! See you tomorrow for cross country!

The Equestrian Centre rings will be closed from Friday at 3:00 pm until Sunday 3:00 pm for our reduced-scope annual Horse Trials. We are calling it the Almost an Event. While we usually welcome spectators, in view of COVID-19 restrictions, we have to ask that those not in the competition keep away from the area west of the red barn for these two days (except for the toilets). Thank you! The trail from the barn up the hill will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. You can still ride all the way around the park by using the trail in behind the trees that joins at the top of the hill. The overflow parking to the south of the red barn will be open for extra parking, if needed.

What a great day yesterday for our first COVID-era cross country schooling day! Thanks so much to the coaches and riders for signing up with short notice, taking all the new protocols in stride and helping us make this a safe and fun experience for all. And thanks to everyone who worked long hours getting the field ready and jumps out and also those who volunteered on the day to open and close jumps and supervise the check-in. Together we can make it happen. We will confirm the next cross country schooling dates shortly.
