With the elevation to Code Red province wide we would like to take the time to inform the public of the changes affecting access to BFC. The new restrictions will affect most businesses, including ours. Fortunately, we are included in the definition of a critical business for the education, maintenance and fuel departments, so we are largely unaffected. Having said that, there are a couple of new restrictions: Unchanged:... Flight Academy AMO FBO, including the fuel department Changes: Sightseeing flights are cancelled until further notice Aircraft rentals are cancelled until further notice We are restricting access to the building with the front (West) door being locked at all times. As previously communicated, access to the AMO is strictly limited to staff only, no exceptions. Ground school will continue observing the 2 meter distancing requirement. We are making plans to move to a virtual ground school to finish out the current class, should the restrictions change yet again before ground school is completed. Your training will not be interrupted if schools are required to go remote. As before, masks are required in the building when you're in the main customer lounge area, classroom, and aircraft. Frequent sanitization of the facility will continue to occur, as well as every time the classroom/aircraft are utilized. We are reminding people of the need to limit their movements outside their homes and encourage people to conduct as much business as possible by virtual means. Many essential air services count on BFC, therefore we need to do everything in our power to ensure our doors stay open during this time. So please, keep our essential staff and partners safety in mind as we pivot into these Code Red restrictions. When you come to the Brandon Flight Centre, it is very likely that you will be met by one of our 4-legged greeters! Time and again, people tell us that they make BFC a part of their itinerary because of the warm, friendly atmosphere (I think perhaps it also might have something to do with our furry friends that await them at the door). The next time you are in the area, feel free to stop in to say Hi to Queso, Izzy, Minxa, Mia and of course Bella! Cant guarantee that they will all be here, but for sure at least a couple of them will be! Couple of tips - Mia is always up for a game of Frisbee toss and/or tug-of-war, and Queso will gladly help you finish your lunch/snack at any time!

Never a dull moment here! Last Friday we welcomed several guests to the facility throughout the day, and assisted STARS Air Ambulance with one of their missions. Here are just a couple of photos of the aircraft that were parked on our ramp. Always great to see everyone!!

Reminder for everyone - PPL Ground school starts up again tomorrow, Tuesday September 15th at 6:30 pm in the BFC classroom. Students are reminded that social distancing is in effect and that masks are to be worn in all public areas. Two seats are still open and registration can take place at the door. See you then!

Ground School classes starting in September at the Brandon Flight Centre!! We are pleased to announce that our Fall PPL ground school course begins Tuesday September 15th and will run every Tuesday & Thursday from 1830 2100. The course will be split into 4 sections, each roughly 2.5 weeks with an exam at the end of each section. The total time for the ground school will be approx. 60 hours and it will be taught by three of our instructors (Bruce, Aimee and Jay).... Yesterday the filming took place for the Brandon Flying Club 2020 virtual AGM. The Brandon Flight Centre team has expanded! Our Flight Training Unit is very pleased to welcome Jaideep Brar! Jay is a Class 3 flight instructor and comes to us from the First Nations Technical Institute. We have been speaking with Jay for months about coming out to BFC and are very happy that he is here! Jay is a full-time instructor and is looking forward to working with our students to help them realize their aviation dreams! ... Welcome Jay!!

Thousands of pilots from around the world would pass through the doors of the various Service Flight Training Schools during WWII. Their service, skill and sacrifice helped to make possible the eventual hard won peace that happened 75 years ago this weekend with the surrender of Japan and the formal end of the war. Thank you to all who served and continue to serve as well as to their families who continue to send them off into the unknown.
