Apparently putting an IKEA couch cover back on a couch is a workout... thanks IKEA for making the fit tight enough that you make me sweat trying to put it back on!

As an OT that worked in adolescent mental health for 10 years, I witnessed first hand the struggles that both kiddos and their families experienced with electronic use. Technology is changing so fast but unfortunately we do not have the research we need to know how it will impact the future generation. Here is yet another reference to a study that suggests there could be a relation between electronic use and changes in the brain. There are some simple tips at the end of the article that we can all follow to include technology in the lives of our children responsibly.
Another great company in Winnipeg that does what it can to make life easier. Check out these tips!
Its national cat day! To celebrate Im sharing a photo of this special guy who not only has the usual cat duties but is also my movement alert system. Ive been sitting at my desk too long when he actually makes it onto the computer... How do you remind yourself to take movement breaks? Did you know? Canadians spend on average 10 hours a day sitting. For more information on the health risks and to calculate your average daily sitting time check out this website: http://getcanadastanding.org/
A video of two of the members of WBSS (Winnipeg Businesses Supporting Seniors with Richard Rosin and Rafiq Punjani) that I have had the privilege to get to know. Here they discuss an important issue in dementia care. What are your thoughts? Any thoughts on how to care for the caregivers? Any experience with caregiver burnout? All very important factors that need to be considered in client care.
Fall Prevention Tip Did you know: Falls are the leading cause of injury-related permanent partial and total disabilities for Manitobans of ALL AGES. ... (2009-2010 data, Council of Canadians with Disabilities) When you are preparing your property for the winter, ensure there are no tripping hazards on the ground. Ensure all access routes are clear of clutter so when the snow flies (again) there is nothing that can pose a potential fall hazard. Clutter can include tree branches, down-spouts crossing the walk-way, left-over building materials, etc.
