Chehalis Contra Dance Weekend

Dear Dancers, We have some Big changes for 2020 at Chehalis. We will still have the great bands and wonderful callers and of course the great dancers, just in a different location and format We decided that for 2020 we will hold an in-town weekend at a lovely heritage hall in the suburbs of Surrey. Camp Luther is not available for Chehalis in 2020 and will be undergoing extensive renovations in 2021. We have searched extensively for another residential camp in our area t...o no avail; camps are already booked for the time we would like to attend (Sept-Oct), the hall for dancing is too small or the floor is concrete or has carpeting, or the price is out of our reach. So we turned towards Sullivan Hall. Sullivan Hall https://www.sullivanhall.ca/index.html is easy access from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, the US border and has a bus stop within a half block from the hall. Driving from City Hall in Vancouver takes approximately 45 minutes. As we were unable to rent Sullivan for the entire weekend, our Friday night dance will be held 10 minutes away at Elgin Hall, where VCD has hosted it’s last dance of the season in June each year. Corporate rates will be available to those who wish to stay in nearby hotels (within a 10 minute radius), and there are several RV/camping sites available within 5-15 minutes as well. Just down the street is a mini mall with three restaurants; with several more choices within 15 minutes by car. We are still looking for residential camps for 2021, but for now, Chehalis 2020 will be held September 18-20 at Elgin and Sullivan Halls in Surrey. We hope to see you there!
