Hi Everyone, The Christmas Waltz will be shown on the W Network on Dec. 24 at 8 am and again at 6 pm. DFD hosted the stars of this movie as well as world-renowned dancer, choreographer and judge on So You Think You Can Dance, Jean-Marc Genereux for their choreography and rehearsal sessions. Guess who's going to be on the Kid Carson Show! That's right, DFD's own head cheese, Andrew McIntosh! Tune in to Z95.3FM on Thursday morning as Kid, Jordan McCloskey and Andrew exchange some friendly banter on ballroom dancing in the Covid era! Andrew will be on sometime between 6-9 am. Thank you Trevor Bunt for making this happen!

Hello dancers, Unfortunately we have some very sad news to share with you. We have lost two members of our dance community recently and we know many of you would like to know. Our friend Patrick Ronahan passed away on April 29th of this year after a battle with esophageal cancer. Patrick first took lessons with us in the spring of 2008 and has been a part of our school ever since. Patrick was a fixture at our New Year's Eve dances and Showcases, and videoed the corner view a...t every Showcase since I can remember. Patrick was funny and generous and witty and clever. He made me laugh so many times and was an unfailing supporter of our studio. Our friend Mark Wiebe passed away on October 5th in a road accident. Mark took his first dance lessons in 2014 and has been the gentle giant of our ballroom ever since. He was quick with a smile and a story, but slow to get dance shoes due to his extremely large feet! A big man with a big heart, he is also the only man to have ever picked me up and dipped me on the dance-floor! Mark's family wanted us to know that there is a visitation on October 31st at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack. Looking through the photos of our various events over the last decade they were both fixtures on our dance-floor. It is heartbreaking to know that they won't be back. We will miss them both so much. In light of the new Provincial Health Order responding to the recent upsurge of Covid cases in B.C. requesting that all group physical activity be suspended for a two week period ending November 23rd at 12 pm, we are postponing all group classes, LET'S DANCE! classes and DPG's until given the green light to resume. Hurray! We are adding two new classes to our schedule! Singles, these are for you! Or for anyone who wants to participate, NO PARTNER REQUIRED! LET'S DANCE! Tuesdays 8:40-9:35 pm & Saturdays 10:15-11:10 am starting Oct. 6 ... This class is a fun, light-hearted dance workout class where all dancing takes place solo. We will incorporate Zumba, ballroom and latin routines, technical as well as styling elements, with a little bit of line dancing, stretching and toning thrown in. Unlike a Zumba class, we can stop to ask and answer quick questions, unlike a technical class, it will be much more aerobic and unlike learning steps by yourself, you will actually be dancing routines immediately! Wear your workout clothes and be prepared to sweat! Jazz-sneakers are the ideal type of shoe for this class but runners will do as well. We can comfortably fit 9 solo dancers while maintaining social distancing in our main ballroom therefore masks are optional in this class at this time. Contact us to reserve your spot! It is the eve of our grand re-opening and we just wanted to share some exciting news about what's been happening at DFD for the past couple of weeks. We have had the honour of hosting world-renowned Canadian ballroom champion, choreographer and judge on "So You Think You Can Dance", Jean-Marc Genereux as well as the stars of the upcoming Hallmark movie, "The Christmas Waltz", Lacy Chabert, Will Kemp, Julia Harnett and Zika Trajkovic for their choreography and training sessions. Jean-Marc is one of the dance stars that inspired us to dance so we were thrilled to meet him and play a part in his work!
