We are officially open. With these measures in place to keep our loved ones safe. Thank-you Vancouver and BC for staying safe, kind, calm and sticking together. <3

#ShelterInPlaceProject Day 55. As soon as I conceived of this project I knew this building wanted to be pink. All of my pieces from this series have a jumping off colour. Sometimes they’re a focal point sometimes they end up being pretty insignificant. From there it’s simply a matter of laying in colours that will compliment it, being conscious of how they vibrate and working outward. ... Also I just reached 700 layers. This is a small piece. .................................... I live in a modest but pretty apartment in a modest but pretty neighbourhood. This is the mundane view from my balcony while sheltering in place. Not much to look at. I think my neighbours and I might enjoy a more decorative and imaginative setting. Let’s get to work!

#ShelterInPlaceProject Days 41-50. The trees I originally documented were barren and drab. Now 40+ days later they are lush and beautiful. This provides an argument in favour of and against photography’s role as a system of documentation. It captures a moment in time. But it’s fleeting. I began this project by predicting how beautiful they would to be. I fell short. Got the details wrong. But I’m a-okay with that. ... Despite my shortcomings I still prefer to interpret a scene than document it. It allows me to be imaginative. I live in a modest but pretty apartment in a modest but pretty neighbourhood. His music is romantic and poetic and puts me in a good mood. I was saddened to hear of his passing but will always be grateful for the positive vibes and sweetness he put out to the world. I decided to pay tribute to him by jazzing up that boring fence with some 70’s bellbottom font style graffiti. The neighbour across the way also lost her dog. His name was Ocho. I can’t remember the full story behind his name but it had to do with the number eight. He was a sweet pup and I know she misses him so I carved a memorial into the telephone pole for him.
