4 MONTHS TIPS! Wow there are a lot of 4 months babies out there right now! (post a pic/comment below if you have a 4 month old right now)..... You most likely are experiencing some HUGE changes in your babe's sleep....most common I hear "my baby used to sleep through the night, and now is up every hour!" " He used to take beautiful, long naps, and now they are 30 minutes...on.the.dot!"... " I try to put her down when she shows me that she's tired, but it takes FOREVER for her to settle to sleep, only to wake again shortly after" "I feel like all I'm doing is feeding/rocking/bouncing to sleep" if you are going through any of this. Although, this age doesn't sound like fun , It's actually my FAVOURITE age to work with and here's why... At 4 months, your baby now has the hormones responsible for sleep cycles Sleep can now be scheduled based on their biological sleep needs. This also makes planning things much easier since you know when they will be sleeping and awake. No more guessing! They can learn self-soothing skills, and ways to soothe themselves that don't include you (or anyone else) Once they are on a set sleep schedule, and getting the right amount of sleep, at the right times, they actually LOVE sleeping! and the BIGGEST reason.... Once your baby learns self-soothing skills, and is set on a proper schedule, these skills NEVER have to be taught AGAIN!!! meaning, from 4 months on....you have a BEAUTIFUL SLEEPER!.....and that just makes life much more enjoyable

Join us this Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for our mindfulness meditation series led by Debbie Sasson, PsyD. Today's video is a morning gratitude meditation. De...bbie Sasson is the co-founder of Sleep Sisters , a group of two real-life sisters who work together to help sleepless families get back on track! She is also a Family Sleep Institute Certified Sleep Consultant as well as the FSI's Special Needs and Special Sleep Solutions Instructor. Not only is she a mom to daughters, Margo & Julia, but also has a doctorate in clinical psychology. Debbie also spend her summers working as the director of Camp Akeela, a residential summer camp for children who are struggling socially. Many have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or NVLD. She has found over the past 13 years in her work with this population that many of them struggle with sleep.

There's no doubt this March Break feels very different than past. Instead of play dates, day camps and vacations, we are planning things to do at home and away from others. It may be tempting to throw out routines and schedules, say buh-bye to bedtime and enjoy sleep-ins....but there are reasons we should be trying to stick to our sleep schedules as much as possible. Our bodies are very habitual. They are used to falling asleep and waking at the same time every...day. Our hormones, energy levels, and bodily functions have adjusted to this schedule. When we sway from our regular schedule we throw all these things off. We may not feel it right away, but several days in (think daylight savings time) we start to feel it. Tired, cranky, low energy, groggy, run-down. Our bodies HEAL and RESTORE only when we are sleeping. Now, more than ever, we need to be giving our bodies AS MUCH SLEEP AS POSSIBLE to build up and sustain a healthy immune system. NO sleepovers or bed-sharing! My kids are constantly asking if they can sleep together, in different rooms, or on the couch. Although this may be tempting, and sound fun...I know it means they will be up later talking, and fooling around, having an uncomfortable/ un-restfull sleep, or coughing/breathing in each others faces all night. So I play the bad-guy in this situation and say NO! See more

Since we are recommended to stay home, why not use this time to focus on your babe's sleep!? With social distancing recommended by health officials, I will not be doing in-home consultations for the next few weeks. However, I can do phone or email consultations!

Although it doesn't look like spring outside today (if you are in Northern Ontario)...but the Spring Time Change is coming THIS SUNDAY! Below, I've posted a link to an article about this time change and how you can adjust your baby's schedule for it.
