In Scarborough ON, a youth-led group has been exploring the circular economy by advocating for repair! After launching with repair cafes to help people fix household items they might otherwise throw away, Ecoborough has adapted to the pandemic by supporting local groups in their own repair projects and encouraging the practice on social media. We think repair should be more accessible for youth because it encourages curiosity, teaches us to collaborate, build, fail, and cr...itique systems while also understanding the mechanics of what makes stuff work, Jill-Anne from Ecoborough says. Does this make you want to get involved and make change in your community? If so, you’re in luck. We’re launching the Future Ground Network - a new national network supporting community-level change-makers by providing tools, training and inspiration. Register for our Future Ground Network launch webinar tonight! https://bit.ly/2LAST2O

Humans are changing the way the ocean sounds and it is a huge problem for marine life! Noise pollution is one of the key threats to endangered southern resident orcas. From tiny shrimp to huge whales, marine life relies on sound for food, way-finding, communication and more. The increasing cacophony in the marine environment makes survival a challenge.

Better protections for human health and the environment have never been more important. That’s why we are teaming up with other leading organizations for Virtual Hill Days. Together, we will send Ottawa a clear message that people in Canada support moving forward quickly with a strong bill to strengthen CEPA and protect the human right to a healthy environment! Our goal is for every MP to receive calls from constituents in support of strengthening CEPA!

Spending on public transportation creates 31 per cent more jobs per dollar spent than spending on new roads (Source: World Resources Institute). Hidden transit jobs could help lead Canada's green and just economic recovery from the pandemic. Worried about transit during the pandemic? Great news from our friends at Ecojustice their youth-led climate lawsuit Mathur et al. v. Ontario will get its day in court! Last Friday, the seven youth plaintiffs learned that their case had survived the government’s attempt to throw it out. This is the first time a Canadian court has recognized that climate harms can engage our Charter-protected rights to life, liberty and security of the person.... Way to go Ecojustice and these seven brave young plaintiffs history in the making!
