Since this COVID-19 problem seems like it may be around for longer than we had all hoped, we will be making a secure drop box outside the office for anyone who wants to drop off their tax papers during the time that we are closed to the public. Please place your slips, etc. in an envelope with your phone number and email address on it, so that we can get in touch with you. Thank you for your co-operation and patience through all of this!

Apparently some people are saying that "taxes are not being done" during this period of closure. Please be assured that they ARE in fact being done while we are closed to the public for two weeks. We will contact people to sign etc by email or fax if possible, otherwise they will have to wait until we re-open to the public. Everyone needs to work together in this pandemic and practice social distancing!

The Canada Revenue Agency has officially announced the extension of the tax filing deadline to June 1st, 2020 and the payment date for balances owing to August 31st, 2020. Everyone can relax a little bit for now.

Due to the fact that I would be putting my family at risk by remaining open to the public and seeing hundreds of people, I will be closing the office for the next 2 weeks in hopes that things will settle down in relation to the Corona virus. I will still be in the office working but the door will be locked. If clients wish to have paperwork emailed to them for signing and can pay by etransfer, we can certainly do that. Sorry for any inconvenience but I have to do my part.

We are still open daily as per usual to try to keep the flow of income tax filing going, but if you are concerned about coming out and being exposed to the Corona virus, don't feel obligated to come in to sign. We can keep everything on hold until this virus issue dies down. We can also have you sign by fax or email and can accept payment by etransfer if necessary. We all have to work together to get through this challenge!

REMINDER! The deadline for making an RRSP contribution to deduct on your 2019 Tax Return is March 2nd, 2020!

T4 slips are currently being issued and will be mailed or handed out but please note that the Canada Revenue Agency will not be accepting or processing tax returns until February 24th, 2020 so you cannot file your taxes before then. An estimate can be prepared but final tax software is not released until the first week of February. Please be sure you have ALL of your T4's and other tax slips before you file!

Davis Tax is ready to start preparing your 2018 tax returns any time so if you have your T4's, rent receipts, etc. feel free to stop in and get it started! We cannot efile tax returns until February 18th however we can get them ready to go!

Canada Revenue Agency has now posted their start date for efiling/processing tax returns and it will be February 18th, 2019.

An estimate can be prepared but final software is not released until the first week of February.

There have been numerous clients recently getting calls from scam artists saying they are Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and that the person owes money to the government. If they threaten you by saying things like "a warrant will be issued for your arrest" or "your passport will be cancelled", please note that this is NOT the real CRA! They do not do that kind of threatening. Please don't send them any money!

We have decided the office will be open Monday, April 2nd to accommodate our clients so will only be closed on Good Friday, March 30th.

Efilng of tax returns starts tomorrow February 26th!!! RRSP deadline is March 1st so make your contributions a.s.a.p!

Just a friendly reminder to folks who are tenants as well as their landlords: please include all required information on your rent receipts! Tenant's name, address of house or apartment rented, dates tenant resided there i.e. Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2017, amount paid and landlord's name & signature.
