Sunflowers end up facing the sun, but they go through a lot of dirt to find their way there. -J.R. Rim . DID YOU KNOW: We've been growing sunflowers for 12 years for birdseed and now we also use them for Sunflower Honey and make our own Sunflower Oil! .... We plant them in the spring and takes approx 60 days from planting to bloom. The bloom usually only lasts 2-3 weeks, but we don't harvest them until around Thanksgiving. 140 days from planting! .
