Showcasing the unfortunate impact of Dutch Elm Disease. The elm boulevard tree (on the left)was planted in 2007 and the ash boulevard tree (on the right) was planting one year later. Ash replaced elms in the design standards because Dutch Elm Disease was deemed too devastating to continue with elm plantings. The obvious downside to ash, shown here, is their much slower growth rate.

Im proud to announce Stillwater as Canadian Home Builder Association - Edmonton Regions Best New Community of the year. I poured my heart and soul into building and launching Stillwater. Today is a proud day for the many of us who worked together to make it a success, as a wonderful community for the ages. https://edmontonjournal.com//setting-the-bar-edmontons-bes

Shaw Business doesnt advertise themselves as having archaic infrastructure or poor technical support. I thought Id help them out with that. Dont walk, run...far, far away!

I was driving on one of Ft Sasks 10m (1m wider than normal) local roads today. The extra road width was rationalized as being needed for snow storage, to allow more room for emergency vehicle passage. However, the snow was recently cleared from the entire width... It makes me sad to see these overbuilt local roads in my community. Speeding and increased crossing distances result. And its not like the extra 1m in width renders the road capable of two-way traffic when cars ar...e parked on both sides....11m is needed for that and its called a collector road! Typical local roads across North America are built for parking on both sides and a single bi-directional traffic lane in the centre. Hybrid local/collector roads like this are dangerous for pedestrians and requiring them is an irresponsible practice. It decreases affordability of new homes. It lowers density by adding more road and needing bigger storm sewers and ponds to deal with the increased runoff. It also increases the forever cost of maintenance and eventual replacement cost funded by taxes. The 9m local roads work fine across the continent. Lets stop disregarding the consequences and stop acting like our communitys local road need is somehow unique.

A future city-builder in the making! This thoughtful LEGO City has been created with very little adult influence. Some of the key attributes are: - Fire Rescue/Hospital next to the outlying airfield - Police and park in the most dense area... - An urban-mall with no common areas (like the Canadian version of a bazaar) - Public transit (highly subsidized, of course!) - Grid-pattern - Lots of construction (stimulus funded, Im guessing, these days!) The biggest point of interest is how it is being planned for a future LRT. Its in the budget and there was a boring request but it was recently denied.

A View With Some History Okay, the sky outside of our new home office doesnt always look as nice as this photo, but weve had lesser views over the course of our careers (the compost pile in the Fort Sask industrial park comes to mind!). As I looked for a cover photo that symbolized our consulting practice, I came across this gem. It is, in fact, the view of our neighbourhood as seen from our home office but it is also the first stage of development that I worked on when I j...oined the private sector in 2007. As we turn our focus to entrepreneurialism, we remember our roots and the journey that brought us to this place and time.
