Have you ever tried a Myers Cocktail? Dr. Maryam Ferdosian, ND and owner of East Van Integrated Health is shown here administering this vitamin infusion via IV therapy. I aim to get this once a month as I find it helps with fatigue, immune system boosting and enhancing metabolism. I do this in conjunction with other healthcare modalities whether it be Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Bowen Therapy, Cranial-Sacral therapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic care, Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy. If you need any referrals for any of these modalities, I know good people!

Is it allergies? Or COVID-19? That was the question I asked myself last week when my eyes were itching beyond reprieve and my nose was running like a faucet. Then it occurred to me that yes, cherry blossoms are blooming and pollen is in the air, I am suffering from hay fever also known as allergy rhinitis. Great timing, eh? Did you know that Chinese herbal medicine can help alleviate these symptoms? In times like these where I am physically unable to perform Acupuncture, I a...m also able to offer help via telemedicine. I can show you how to activate points via Acupressure as well as assess your diet by suggesting foods according to Chinese Medicine that are helpful to boosting your immune system. Let me know how I can be of help during this time of social distancing! https://www.google.com//british-c/2020/3/17/1_4856859.html

SIBO...the new IBS. For anyone experiencing chronic digestive health problems, you may want to look in to a SIBO diagnosis. In addition to dietary changes, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs can help with symptoms such as bloating, gas, diarrhea/constipation, abdominal pain and discomfort.

This controversial coronavirus is the headlines of media these days, for good reason too. I’m often asked by clients if I’m worried about it. Of course I am as I wouldn’t wish this pneumonia-like virus on anyone. However, having said that, being trained as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, my response also includes that I am able to treat such symptoms via Chinese Herbal Remedies. In fact I already have my herbal formula ready at home to treat my family and myself should anyone experience any symptoms. This will be used in conjunction with a visit to the Western Medicine doctor as well. I love that I have the knowledge and ability to treat such illnesses as well as live in a country where we have access to both Western and non-conventional medicine!

Do you have a cough that is taking its sweet time going away? A little trick is to halve an Asian pear and drizzle a little bit of Manuka honey on the sliced side and steam for 5 minutes (sliced side facing upwards). Then eat and enjoy! You can do this every day until cough gets better.

I got the most amazing gift from a client (husband / wife team) that touched me so endearingly. Has anyone been to the Art of Sauna? Since being back from second maternity leave, I’ll be honest, has been more tiring compared to coming back to work from my first born. I love my work and the clients I get to work with. I often wonder if I’ve given the best treatment that I possibly could have done. Given my current state of being a mother of two, a wife and a self-employed healthcare practitioner, my energy is now more dispersed than it used to be. It’s good to know that I’m still making a change, connecting and helping people in the way I wish to, and making a difference. Thank you to all who believe and support me, I wouldn’t be here without you. And your damn right I’m super pumped to use this gift card!!!!

My friend Dr. Maryam Ferdosian, Naturopathic Doctor has space in her lovely East Van clinic (East Van Integrated Health) if anyone is looking! I had the luxury of working with her before she opened up her own clinic. Not only is she an amazing practitioner but she is so fun to work with.

My amazing friend Emily is hosting two Alchemy if Breath workshops during her short stay back in Vancouver. I did this workshop while she was passing through Vancouver in the summer and I have to say that this is a very different type of breathing workshop compared to any others I’ve tried. I felt so calm afterwards and had the best sleep!! Very similar to the effects of Acupuncture but in a completely different way. Make it if you can! Classes will fill up quickly!

Many women don't want to take pills to relieve symptoms caused by other pills." This article explains the effectiveness of Acupuncture for pain management, specifically related to the medications given to women with breast cancer. Not only is Acupuncture an amazing drug-free pain management tool, I often treat people with Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs) to mitigate the side effects from prescription medications. We feel there is now sufficient ev...idence to support insurance coverage of acupuncture for AI arthralgia. Here’s hoping that it is all a matter of time before insurance companies provide more coverage for Acupuncture!
