A great message today from Coach Derek! #bellletstalk day had me reflecting on how the mental health benefits of exercise still seem to be underestimated. For me personally, one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of this industry is because of how exercising greatly improved my own mental health. I still find that if I am feeling down, anxious, stressed or overwhelmed, exercise always seems to improve my mentality and makes hard times more manageable. My goal is to help... others recognize what a wonderful tool exercise can be! ATTENTION PREGNANT MOMMA’S A post from our momma to be and Athletic Therapist Jessica! Today marks the half way point through my pregnancy but I have to admit, working out is getting harder Here are two adaptations I’ve made to my workouts that have helped a ton!... 1 - at 20 weeks pregnant, laying on my back is no longer comfortable, so I’ve utilized a bench to prop myself up. 2 - for obvious reasons I can’t lay on my tummy anymore, so I will lean on an exercise ball to take the pressure off my ever growing baby bump! Coach Derek here with a great exercise for golfers or anyone trying to improve their single leg strength and balance To perform the single leg deadlift you want to keep your core engaged and your back flat without allowing your hip to twist open as you push your leg behind you. This will help improve single leg glute and hamstring strength while addressing any muscular imbalances. ... Give these a try to improve your golf game or add variation to your leg days! Proud to Be Breaking the Boundaries This award arrived this week following its presentation to me in April of this year. It signifies a reputation I am proud to hold. A TPI assessment is used to screen a players physical limitations that may be negatively affecting their swing. Through a 16 physical screen test and video swing analysis we can identify these limitations and work on a strength & conditioning program to help you diminish these limitations while also decreasing the risk of injury! . We are so excited for our DEL.FIT Athlete Mansel who has signed to play football with the McMaster Marauders! . Mansel played with the Huronia Stallions and Joan of Arc. His passion earned him Lineman of the Year in 2017 & 2019 and he is ranked no.2 offensive player by Simcoe County Football for Simcoe County Athletic Association 2019 Season! . If you are looking to challenge your core or having trouble pressing overhead, give this exercise a try! By being in the half kneel position, it requires a lot of core strength to keep yourself in proper alignment while pressing the bar above your head. This movement builds similar musculature as the traditional overhead press but keeps your shoulder in a more comfortable and safe position while addressing any unilateral muscle imbalances or shoulder stability issues. ... My doc told me to rest it for a few weeks and then get back to activity Some of the most effective rehab can be done in those first 24-72 hours! There’s no question that with some injuries, a few days of rest might be needed, BUT as a rehab professional there are TONS of effective exercises that can be done in the first 24-72 hours that help to create an optimal healing environment resulting in a decrease of future compensations and re-injury!...
