DAILY BREAD FOOD BANK, A YEAR IN REVIEW 2019 - 2020 As some of you may know my Dad passed away in October, 3 days after I began this video project with @dailybreadto. My Dad was so thrilled when I first shared the news with him that I had been selected to work on this project. I can still see his big smile beaming from ear to ear when I told him. After he passed I knew I had to finish this video, not only for the Daily Bread Food Bank and all of the amazing people working so ...hard to help feed those in need in Toronto, but I also needed to complete it for my Dad and for myself. As hard as it was putting on my work hat 3 days after his passing, I felt his spirit close to me along the way, inspiring me to keep going. There are so many people helping those in need, I’m truly grateful that I had the opportunity to produce this video and to meet so many amazing people along the way who are doing great things to help support others. Thank you @dailybreadto and @neilhetherington for asking me to help tell your 2019 -2020 story, I’m honoured. Thank you Leah @leah.koso for your amazing support along the way. This year’s #WhosHungry2020 report reveals that prior to COVID-19, food bank use had already increased by 5% compared to the previous year with close to one mil...lion visits in the city of Toronto the same level as peak following the 2008-09 financial crisis. With the arrival of COVID-19, food bank visits continue to climb significantly, increasing by 22% in June to a staggering 51% in August compared to the previous year. Glad I captured this video 4 yrs ago. It’s a good reminder to myself to keep going. I may not have gotten selected for this contest, but I sure know that the path I’m on is the right one.
