Webinar tomorrow (Tues 8th Dec) at 12.00 noon. "Tackling fossil fuel subsidies in British Columbia" (BC has the second-highest level of fossil fuel subsidies of Canadian provinces.) Moderated by Tzeporah Berman, the panel features Vanessa Corkal, who helped uncover the shocking scale of subsidies in B.C., and economist Marc Lee, on how B.C.’s floundering fracking industry can’t survive without public money. Kirby Muldoe will show how fossil fuel subsidies translate into impac...ts on Indigenous communities, and our own Kai Nagata will talk about the political opportunities we’ve got right now to stop taxpayer-funded climate change in B.C. Climate Change Effects? Dennis Forsyth, of Denman Island Conservancy, writes: "Bird watchers, both amateur and professional, are becoming increasingly aware of the effects of climate change, and more specifically global warming, on the migration habits of many species of birds. Studies all over the world are showing quite rapid changes in these patterns. "
